Sendai is north of Tokyo, think 50-100 miles sount of the northern tip of Honshu (the mainland).
I heard that some flights were cancelled to Japan because of the threatening Cyclone off shore...

Actually, in Japanese they share a kanji:
東京 = Tokyo
京都 = Kyoto

What the hell would I record anime with? Why would I take photos of "hot chicks" in Japan in particular? Contrary to what you seem to believe, anime isn't the only thing on TV in Japan (and in fact isn't anywhere near the most popular either), and Japan isn't the only place where you will find "hot chicks," asian or otherwise.
And for RC, since he kept asking in IRC and I never got around to answering properly: not that many robots are on display. This is a conference, not a convention nor an exhibition. There are a grand total of 4 robots on display, the actual point of the conference is the 3 days of 13 parallel streams of technical paper presentations. That means research and learning.
Well at least it does have a lot of automatic doors...oh yeah and beer in vending machines...

I won't even bother replying to the first point. Jack and Curz can have fun with that. As for the second point, I once again ask, how the hell would I record it? Not to mention that recording a single episode in the middle of a series would be rather pointless, and that if I really want to I could just watch it (although that would require staying up way too late).

I did get on the bullet train. I took it from Tokyo to Sendai. The bullet train system is amazing, even more so than you've probably heard. It's like a country-wide metro system.

A few weeks ago, when I was both bored and playing Final Fantasy Tactics (for those that don't know, "kupo" is what moggles are always saying in FF games).

Tomorrow I'm going back to buy a hell of a lot more nifty stuff. Going to pick up a camera, a new mp3 player, some models of things like the VF-19, the Xenosaga 2 soundtrack, and some manga ("kanji practice"), as well as anything else I happen to fancy at the time.
