Yes, E3 is in LA...has been every year except one in which it was crammed into an Atlanta convention center...which was a total disaster...
Who said the announcement was going to be in the UK? I thought that was just speculation. ITF was shown and playable at E3, so I was thinking (praying) that maybe something would be announced there this year that was B5 related... :)

You just want the announcement to be at the London Expo ;)
Of course I'll be there too...so I can't say I don't hope as well :D
I agree with Worf, I don't think it would be enough time.
Not sure what a Jovian Sunspot is, but for some reason, the name reminds me of the Warp Core Breach, a drink at the Star Trek Experiance in Las Vegas which is, if memory serves, a fishbowl filled with some five kinds of rum.

Wow, five kinds of rum?! Sounds good to me!! ;)
What about a Pan Galactic Gargleblaster?
What on earth is that?! you made that up! :)
RubberEagleWhat's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
while i don't think Cannes is the answer,
to show something there wouldn't necessarily mean that the film has completed.
They could just present the film with a few scenes that have allready been shot.
Has been done quite a few times, but i can't remember a specific film.

Not at all. Some films are announced at Canne as being in production, or just greenlighted.
Some films are shown in the form of workprints, or a collection of completed scenes or a trailer. In some cases, the trailer doesn't even feature footage from the film itself (in cases where the film isn't finished) or even started); it's just a theme trailer used to set the mood for the film.

Here's what the Encyclopedia Galactica has to say about alcohol.
It says that alcohol is a colourless volatile liquid formed by
the fermentation of sugars and also notes its intoxicating effect
on certain carbon-based life forms.
The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy also mentions alcohol. It
says that the best drink in existence is the Pan Galactic Gargle
Blaster.
It says that the effect of a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster is like
having your brains smashed out by a slice of lemon wrapped round
a large gold brick.
The Guide also tells you on which planets the best Pan Galactic
Gargle Blasters are mixed, how much you can expect to pay for one
and what voluntary organizations exist to help you rehabilitate
afterwards.
The Guide even tells you how you can mix one yourself.
Take the juice from one bottle of that Ol' Janx Spirit, it says.
Pour into it one measure of water from the seas of Santraginus V
- Oh that Santraginean sea water, it says. Oh those Santraginean
fish!!!
Allow three cubes of Arcturan Mega-gin to melt into the mixture
(it must be properly iced or the benzine is lost).
Allow four litres of Fallian marsh gas to bubble through it, in
memory of all those happy Hikers who have died of pleasure in the
Marshes of Fallia.
Over the back of a silver spoon float a measure of Qualactin
Hypermint extract, redolent of all the heady odours of the dark
Qualactin Zones, subtle sweet and mystic.
Drop in the tooth of an Algolian Suntiger. Watch it dissolve,
spreading the fires of the Algolian Suns deep into the heart of
the drink.
Sprinkle Zamphuor.
Add an olive.
Drink ... but ... very carefully ...
The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy sells rather better than
the Encyclopedia Galactica.

For what it is worth I enjoyed the tv series but I had not read the story nor listened to the radio versions at that time.
By todays standards the effects are bad but the dialog works well, better than the radio play in a couple of places e.g. Arthur in the mud scene. They used many of the same actors in both radio and tv versions which helped with the transition I think.
The voice of the guide was superb, I can't help but "hear" that voice when I read the book.
BigglesThe Man Without a Face
As TV adaptions go, it's pretty good, but it still doesn't stand up to either the radio show or the books. :)
Yeh, the books have been around for quite a while. I'm not sure but I get the feeling that the radio series was actually first and not the books. I could be thinking of something else though :D .
BigglesThe Man Without a Face
The radio show was first. That was adapted into a book (and eventually a TV series and a soon-to-be-made,-probably-very-hollywoodised movie), which was followed by 4 other books to complete the trilogy. :)

Does follow along with the feel of the books though. I heard about a remake on teh TV series as well but I think that may have been canned.
I read that he was pressured into writing the extra books, particularly the last one

There's a movie in the works based on a Script he wrote shortly before he died.

Worf
As for the "UK announcement", JMS's first clue pointed to Warner Brothers UK... WB-UK could be making an appearance at Cannes.
In January he was still writing, surely that wouldnt be enough time for a B5 movie.

I never watched Hitch Hikers Guide!
