If you ever get a group together, I would love to help if I can. Since a starlancer editor does not seem likely to be released. Both Parsec and VegaSrike look great!!

Dear All,
Thank you for your support.
This is Vega Strike lead developer hellcatv, and I've sort of been ghosting some forums for a while...
I really have personally wished for someone to help make a babylon 5 mod.
As the lead developer I can assure that I will make your modding experience as pleasant as possible and add as many features as I can to help you make your particular mod Babylon5ish :-)
The difference between VS and Parsec is that VS has a very active development team that is just revving up for big changes and huge futures :-) so you can expect us to be big help in the days to come when you think of making your mods.
Anyhow I invite you all to the forums where I have setup a special section for modding... http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/forums/
hmm, I noticed one of the download mirrors for VS is in brookfield, just down the road.
I think vs would probably be the easier of the two to mod. I have actually participated in parsec before. They have very talented ship modelers, but its taken them a very long time to get any sort of gameplay going. Its basically just quake in space, and you cant even use a joystick yet.
Going open source for parsec, the best idea they have had yet.
Now if we can just get Jumpgate to go open source, we might have a LOT of fun.
Most open source software products have higher standards of quality than industry products because they have no deadlines.
Industry would certainly ship when VS is at 0.4.0
but between 0.4.0 and 0.5.0 the VS team is going to finish implementing dynamic universe stuff....
this will basically be like master of orion, but it will all occur "under the covers", so the players can see the consequences of the larger conflict at hand. But of course the players' actions will affect what the large empires do...so if players always screw over confed, then suddenly they may either have a revolution, or will end up speaking the alien tounge ;-)
but ya... stuff like that doesn't make it into most products simply because they need to be released by Jan or March or whenever
that's why oSS has such low versioning....
just multiply the versions by 2 and you get the equivalents in industry
LoL ;) I began such a mod some months ago, and your thread have been noticed to me recently.
I already did many work, you should check the status here,
http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=961
I have some problems to post a first alpha, as my connection doesn't seems to be able to stay up long enough for such a big file ;)
If someone wish to help me, I'm mainly looking for some python gurus, because all the script/AI is driven by python scripts; Some meshes should be fine, but please contact me before starting one, because their is more meshes than the ones I show in my forum thread ;)
The mod feature, for now, many 3d ships, some weapons from babylon 5 (even if the stats of ships and weapons are not really accurate so soon), 3d cockpit for each "little" fighter, a part of b5 universe (10 systems, full of planets, jumpoints and ships)

I think my head would implode or something if I tried that.

*Sighs* the life of a non-game-designer...
"Undocking completu"
"Autopiloto engaged"
Anyhow, as I said Ill soon have time for it. If ya want to lead the project, just say so. Otherwise Ill start on my own hehe.
I think that someone should create a Babylon 5 3D screensaver, like discussed in another thread here :)
Mods are the only hope......
*Thinks that it'd work better for a Stargate mod*
