Jeremiah and combat scenes

I just love the series but when it comes to the combat scenes it becomes hard for me not to laugh.
I mean just look at the recent episode (that would be nro 10, the Question). What is it with the fixation in making frontal assaults, shooting from the hip, standing up and using sustained fire for the whole time?
I know a solution to this though, someone should take JMS and the script writing staff to an MILES training ground for a whole day

    jms has always said he considers drama to be more important than realism, and I tend to agree. :)

    yeah I thought that was the reason. The sad thing is that it makes a little dent on the image of otherwise a great series. Personally when I got the chance of using the MILES for the first time I learned how deadly an assault riffle can be on a squad.

    I don't think it makes a dent at all. It would make a dent in a series that was trying to be a realistic representation of war, but Jeremiah isn't.

    Well I just watched episode 8, and I have to say, jms is a fucking legend.

    Tripwire is easily one of the best episodes of the series, and one of the best pieces of TV-Entertainment i've seen in some time

    [i]Crossing Jordan[/i] is even better than [i]Tripwire[/i]. Sean Astin really shows his full potential in that episode, too.

    Thing is, one of the [i]many[/i] things that makes Stargåte so great is their attention to detail. This is to me most apparent in the combat scenes, everything, and everyone is right where it/they should be :)
