Fighters on Cap Ships

First, great work on the InGame mod Buda5 guys!

I have a question about the fighters which launch from cap ships like missiles. I saw the other post which mentioned that you can remote control them by pressing Shift - R. Is there a way to recover the fighters (get them to return to the ship during travel)?

I can get them to dock in REM link mode, but it is a bit awkward with lots of collisions. They don't always follow my ship either (Omega Destroyer).

Thanks, and great job!

  • I can't see any way to recover fighters, and I gather that this is not possible now. I see that they get refreshed when you dock at base, however. Is there any chance that the ability to recover fighters during flight may be added later, though?

    Thanks
  • Oh, and I think it's the fighters that you have REM linked to that stop following your capital ship. Does anyone else have this problem?

There is no easy way to it, since the only way to recover them is to make a script for it. Adding new scripts to EOC main campaign is difficult since we don't have the source code for any of the components. It might be possible to add a new script that tracks fighters, but its not a priority now.

Same thing with remote controlled fighters.
  • When I launch fighters from the Excalibur, then REM link, I can not unlink without freezing my computer. Also, just to vent, I wanna know who designed the hangar bay on that ship. You come out of it and slam into the Excalibur's bow. The ship had this problem in the show, but it never bothered them, of course. Pardon my vented spleen.
  • blame tim earls ;)

    PS
crashing should not be an issue in ingame... are u using ingame or a seperate excal mod?

    PPS
try not remote linking to the fighter right after you launch it, if it's systems are not fully charged yet, it causes problems for the unlink command :)
  • Both the Ingame mod Excalibur and the older one for regular Iwar. I'll try launching a fighter and waiting, though I don't hae the trouble with the Omega-X destroyers. Also, can you think about placing docking ports on the outside of some of the ships?
I apologize about posting mostly to complain, and I should add that this game rocks.:shadow1:
  • why would u want them to launch from outside the ship??

when the ships launch they have to have sufficient speed to clear the launch bay. this also means, in the case of the excal, they hit the forward section... a little... :) aside from being displeasing, it does no harm to the fighters or excalibur, i assure you :)
