How to use location finder?

Does anyone know how to use the location finder mod? I have a hell of a time finding anyplace so I was psyched to find this mod, I downloaded it (by placing the zip file in mods like with the ships) but cannot get it to work. It says that you just hit the "Tab" key to turn it on but nothing happens when I do that. Is there anything else I need to do in order to get it working?

    Have you assigned key binds?
ie CTRL, ALT, (INSERT KEY NAME)

cant remember off hand the .ini file it goes in. I think its the defaults.ini in the main folder, or the one that the developer codes go in if thats not the same file.

I read from location finder's html file that location finder is activated with whatever key is binded to command [Multiplayer.Score]. By default it's Tab. You should check if it's binded to some key (and which it is) from your key config. Key configs are in [I-War2]\configs folder. I really can't help with which ini to look because I don't know what keyconfig you use. If you never changed keyconfig from I-War 2 options (in-game) then it's default.ini.
  • Thanks.
Yeah it is default.ini, I did make a different one to try some configerations for my joystick but went back to the default so the ALT key should still be correctely bound (binded?), I'll check. Does the location finder stay unzipped like the ship mods?

I also have the in-game starmap mod installed and that is supposed to be in the Encyclopedia but it isn't, the walkthrough mod IS in the encyclopedia like it is supposed to be, I wonder if some mods keep the starmap or location finder from working properly.
  • I figured out why it wasn't working, I downloaded the multi-mod location finder and I took that to mean that it would work with other multi-mods, which is true BUT I did NOT download the original mulit-mod file which is needed to run ANY of the multi-mod compatable files. I did so and it now works fine, much easier than searching the starmaps. Thanks everyone.

i find that the origional location finder works best. and don't pay attention to multi mod stuff.. it's BS. as long as you know what yer doing u can have 100 Mods selected. (tho i wouldn't recommend it) Like i said, U JUST HAVE TO KNOW WHAT YER DOING... most don't, that's why multi mod was made i suppose. the origional location finder will work fine with any other mod even without multi mod.

AS A NOTE TO THOSE ANTICIPATING INGAME:

When u read the ingame readme, AND U MUST DO SO, as it's very important, it will say to use NO OTHER MODS BUT INGAME... it means this... don't play around and think u can use multi mod or something with it, lol cause it won't work... trust whatever the readme says and follow to the letter. :) InGame is very very different from other mods, even tho you may activate it similarly. just thought i'd mention that.
  • Maybe I'll download the original location finder and give it a try, is it that much different?

LogicSequence-I know that I (and many others) have said it before but it is important enough to repeat, you and your people are doing an AMAZING job! I couldn't believe how great the ships look, I'm astounded each time I try out a new one. The textures alone look better than many retail products. You guys are incredible and you are VERy much appreciated. Your love for the B5 universe is obvious with the attention to detail you put into everything. I can't wait until the Sept 1st release. Many, many thanks.

On a side note I also have the game Star Trek:Bridge Commander and there are some B5 ships mods made for that game too. Many are pretty good but the ones here for IDW2 are a lot better. If only some developer would hire all of you guys to make a full scale B5 game from scratch. I know it would be GREAT!

Thanks for keeping the memory of the all-time best sci-fi show (and really one of the best shows of ANY kind) alive!

I think multimod is needed when you use multiple mods which otherwise would have to replace scripts.ini file in I-War2 root folder. Scripts.ini tells game which scripts to run when entering and exiting space etc. With multimod you don't need to replace scripts.ini but use mod ini file for the same job.
