"Critical Flaws In Shuttles Loom As Potential Disaster"

What you think after reading that?

It's pretty much same than after Challenger accident.
(read book: Richard Feynman - What do You care what other People think? - Further Adventures of a Curious Character)

I think at least now that this is true: Space shuttle has hundred thousand of different pieces which are propably made by supplier who made lowest bid!

But the fact that it's made by the lowest bidder is what makes it so great!
  • Two shuttle disasters doesn't bode well, especially if there are theories about design flaws flying about.

I think the space programme needs a serious overhaul, the next disaster could seriously undermine our progress in reaching mars or colonizing the moon.

Yep, but they have made lot of budget cuts to NASA's budget and now Bush Junior has put that money to military.

At least Air force is studying "space airplanes" with NASA.
(because those could carry satellite to low orbit.. or bombload to everywhere under few hours)

It's a fascinating system using high-altitude planes to carry shuttles high enough to break the atmosphere, the sooner they institute it, the better. :)

Ideally, we'd need a system involving a series of extremely well-built shuttles to deliver personnel to orbit, and another collection of craft for long-duration work in vacuum. The shuttle tries to do too much at once; specialized craft are the answer.

Of course the shuttle is built by the lowest bidder. So is everything else.

I think that idea of building elevators to space is a good idea! :)

Ah yes, Mr. Herbert George Wells is a true leader in the field of space travel, it's refreshing to see someone as open to his dynamic theories as I am. :)

if he keeps it up, NASA will look like the Current Russian Space Program.

Oh... you mean the one where they still have that cosmonaught drifting through the solar system?

What is it? 40 plus years now? Wonder how far he has traveled...?

So does NASA and a couple of companies in California somewhere. :)

I don't know, some of the evidence about the moon landings being fake is really quite convincing, especially from the photographic side.

However, it's impossible that NASA could have kept the secret if it was all a hoax; too many people involved.

The photographic "evidence" isn't very convincing at all.

In answer to this boast, the French are going to try and put the first man on the Sun. They're going to go up at night.
