The Waiting is the hardest part..

So here i sit, in a little cafe, in Ellsworth Maine (also known as the armpit of the universe)

Waiting... for word on my car repairs..

Ugh, i fear, that i will have spent several thousand dollars by the end of the day..

    So , we go back to the dealership. and the car is up on the lift...

    Coolant hose behind the engine, $80+3 hours labor ($74/hour)
    Serpentine Belt Pully tensioner + Pulley, $150+1 hour labor

    Thats the cheap bits...

    Snapped Coil Spring, Upper Strut Mount, Axel Mount.... about 6 hours labor... and around $1500 in parts...... my cost? $0. there was a Recall issued for the coil springs, so all damage caused by the snapped coil spring is covered under the no cost recall repair.

    Total cost of around $600....

    But of course, i'm stuck in Ellsworth Maine, 20 miles away from Home, the car will be done no sooner than Friday, maybe even Monday, and we're supposed to be at the mother in law's 80 miles away for Thanksgiving tomorow...

    the dealership has no loaners, So i call the guys who we bought the car from (a used car dealership, who overcharges to people with bad credit, but finances everyone) Now I"ve had good dealings with the dealership, they call me and my wife on our birthdays, our anniversary, the anniversary of when we got the car, just to check in and see how the car is doing and how we are.

    Spoke to the guy who we bought the car from, told him our story, he says "I'll call you back in 10 minutes"

    We get a call back in 10 minutes "Enterprise rental car will be there in 10 minutes with a car for you"

    They are renting us a car for the next few days until we get ours back.

    You could have got Sanfam to repair your one for you on his way through. ;)

    Yes, yes it could, sure its going to cost me $600, but thats much better than i was expecting.

    This is why it is a good thing to keep up on the recall status on parts of your car, so you can get them replaced before it breaks on you.
