Random ChaosActually Carefully-selected Order in disguise
Interesting.
Though if filming starts, than rights revert, can he block completion? If so, he has the equivalent of veto power because no movie of any caliber gets made in a year. I wonder how the license is worded.
RubberEagleWhat's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
I'm afraid that the time-limit is probably a "if production hasn't started until DateX, the rights revert back" thing, like it was with fantastic 4 (there was a situation in the early nineties, when the rightsholder decided to shot a movie for... 100.000 $ (or maybe a million), that was only produced to retain the rights, and was never intended to be released, though none of the creative people workin on it knew that)
Yes, it is interesting. As Rubber said, MGM has the distribution rights, and no company worth a damn would want to make a movie and not be able to distribute it (= straight loss). On the other hand, New Line could be spiteful enough to start producing it just to retain the rights, so noone else can do it.
