    I actually have to agree with that.

    I took a lit course on cyberpunk back in undergrad.. I would hardly call "Neuromancer" emo.

    Ghost in the Shell as cyberpunk is, I should note, rather far removed from the origins of the genre in iconic 80s cyberpunk like Neuromancer. You should watch it if you haven't.

    I dont know the Sprawl Trillogy and the original GITS and especialy the manga do both revolve around much of the same issues, if you add in "The Winter Market" out of Burning Chrome, the entire Sprawl setting and GITS becomes to a high degree similar, with the same issues.
    And if you want plenty of violence (okay its mostly implied) but "New Rose Hotel" out of Burning Chrome again, focuses on the darker world of industiral espionoge, espeically with shifting personel from company to another, or just killing them.
