I saw something interesting on the Metra Friday.
Standing by the doors as the train was pulling into Glen Ellyn.
A red sign with white lettering:
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY
TO OPEN DOOR
TURN RED HANDLE
TO THE LEFT
Just under that was a braille sign as well.
Upon closer inspection, comparing letter by letter, the braille sign read:
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY
TO OPEN DOOR
TURN RED HANDLE
TO THE LEFT
Good thing there was no green handle?

My sister is studing ASL, those same sort of contextual inconsistancies show up all the time. Those who are able to hear don't realize how often words that have some bearing to sounds we hear, then as a translator, how do you convert that into a relative message.
