Yeah, it's movement. Unfortunately, that movement is schizophrenically sliding out of control in a puddle of a shit.
Its more or less formulaic BSG cliffhanger style. Its a setup episode which will have the big payoff or flop depending on the following part. I think I'm really going to have to wait for the next part to give it my final judgement. Much Like Exodus I its an episode that by itself is hard to judge. I don't think it lives up to the precedent set by Pegasus as a mid season cliff hanger but a welcome relief after the last batch of episodes.
The Lee/Kara/Anders love triangle thing was predictable but honestly I'm glad that Lee and Kara are finally going at it and the stupid dance is over. I was starting to expect something as tiresome as the O'Neill/Carter dance in SG-1 which never goes anywhere for 8 seasons but keeps on being teased at over and over and over.
The submarine like nuclear missile style deployment was a neat touch.

We already have talked about the weather in NC. How it was nice and sunny in S3 instead of cold and overcast like S2 :D
I think that was just a theatrical technique. i.e. there was a lot of hope when they set down on NC (bright and sunny) and then after a year of hard living (and eventually Cylon occupation) the mood became somber (dark and overcast). But, maybe I'm reading too much into it.
As for this week's episode, it's hard to pass judgement because of it's a cliff-hanger. So far I didn't think it was bad, though.
Roslin: "I can't believe we are allowing Cylons on this ship."
Adama: "They must want something pretty bad or else they would have started shooting as soon as they jumped in."
I was immediately thinking... diapers for baby Hera? :D
I'm a bit surprized that RDM still uses the threat of imminent death as cliffhanger material, I mean with characters dying left and right this seems a bit redundant.
I wonder what made the chief check out the rock formation other than the needs of the plot.

Well there are a few things you just don't find in cylon drug stores. Those are birth control and baby diapers :D

Thats what I meant about the episode sticking to the established formula. There was scene recycling from Pegasus down to the music. The episode ends the same. In a standoff with Adama testing each other to see who is bluffing or who will fold first.
The scene in the raptor was recyclage from the miniseries too. Lee/Tyrol give shit to Sharon/Kara about their landing. Sharon/Kara pretend to be angry, quickly turning into a smiling grin and making out.
Yup that episode wasn't bad but it sure was familiar territory. I found it went by very quickly. Whats the bets that the Spoiler: sun goes nova as expected taking out a load of the basestars with galactica just escaping and after this yet again we get a few more episodes with a lul in the cylons chasing them, skippidy skip skip to earth and throw in some more Lee and Starbuck drama... hmm
Dean did steal the scenes he was in, all the other cylons are just whimps now really. Caprica is looking very redundant to me. Baltar really has the Jesus look now with the beard and the long hair.

Yep.
I was happy that Adama walked out of the room on Roslin concerning Athena finding out about Hera being alive, and that he basically ignored/dismissed her on the in the command room when getting ready to nuke the continent on the planet below.
This reinforces his speech in the Boxing episode where he states he let people get too close, and it wouldn't happen again. I think it also reinforces him taking his balls back.
Sure Roslin is president, but in this environement, she's not commader-in-chief anymore. Having to check with Roslin in a war time environment doesn't cut it. Besides,he saved a lot of people asses off of NC, so he's due some leeway.
:)
It's kinda obvious that the Eye of Jupiter is or has something to do with the Star and it's surrounding cloud. I don't think it will be something as simple as a super nova. Being 4 thousand years have passed since the marker was put there on the algea planet, and the readings what's-his-face brought up. I think it may be some kind of cyclic thing (like a pulsar, but different maybe) . Besides, the 13 colony would have had to use it when it happened back then, and if it was a Super Nova, there wouldn't be anything left here to leave a marker on, much less the star being there 4 thousand years later for the Galactica and the Cylons.
Just my ramblings...
One things that is annoying me... Shit like the comment of "14 inch pipe?" , "yeah", etc.
It's bad enough these people are using English, and military vehicles (Hummers, etc) but now inch and foot measurements? WTF?
The only thing I can think of is that if there is some kind of circular time issue going on here, this stuff filtered into the colonies round-about. And once again, I have a sneeky suspicion that Earth may have been the originating colony and notthe other way around.

I thought the very same thing. They're making him quite the messianic figure, aren't they?
Spoiler: I enjoyed Tyrol's rant about how he used to dance naked around his mother's sanctuary with porno magazines. :D His "discovery" of religion was a nice touch and you could see him realize that he may have been wrong about religion.
I also liked how they didn't abandon the lack of food situation all together, making it lead into this episode.
I think it also reinforces him taking his balls back.

EXACTLY the word for word the comment I was about to post. :D Papa Adama has finally been issued his ballz back. He has his finger on the button and everyone thinks he's bluffing, but he's not. He really is totally willing to waste everyone this time.

Well, if they started saying "centons" and "microns," I might've become physically ill. ;)
It's like them speaking english. It doesn't even register that they shouldn't. My "Huh?" line only starts around the time they say things like "Battlestar Columbia" which is a very recent ship-worthy name. And even that doesn't bother me.

I agree, while it makes sense that they would use different words, it sounded really silly and it still does. :D
They also used "stones" when talking about Lee's weight. I'm ok for using "feet" for length since its measurement seems natural in origin. Like the natives are shown to use "moons" as months in many films. Any human (artificial) convention OTOH is very unlikely.
I suppose there are certain concepts, and time units being one of them, that shouldn't be messed with.

So you think they're actually going home? It does make one wonder why did the 13th colony leave in the first place, if they ever did leave the 13 colonies. They've never explained why the 13th left (don't recall anything being said about it).
There journey is looking more and more like a rite of passage to me.
Actually thinking about it may they were the ones that originally left earth.
I wish they would've explored that more in Farscape TBH, with the whole fact that Earth is infact the origin of the human-like species (which I always suspected from day one) in Farscape, albeit seperated by modified genetics.
Yes that was a shame. Killed it off before they could get to that part of the story and there wasn't really enough space in the mini series to squeeze it in.
I always thought that Earth was the original homeworld, but it seems like they've been laying groundwork over these past few weeks to explain how that might not be the case.
In season one and two, they always said it had been two thousand years since all thirteen tribes left Kobol. But in "A Measure of Salvation" and "The Eye of Jupiter," the artifacts left be the 13th tribe are much older, suggesting multiple trips. If Earth was first settle one to two thousand years before the mass exodus of Kobol, it helpfully explains why there's a map to it on the planet, and also why the other twelve colonies' original flags used constellations as seen from Earth.
Or, maybe I was right all along, and Earth is the original homeworld. They do seem to be establishing a very, very distant timeframe if Galactica is set in the future, though. Has any Sci-Fi series been set upwards of five thousand years from now?

Omg... neither did I until you just said it. Well that has to mean something. Amazed none of the crew have twigged either, or even Baltar for that matter with all his questions and trying to find the identity of the other 5.
RubberEagleWhat's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
also, the temple on the planet is the teomple of five, and the number of unknown cylon models is 5 ....
Funny the way they focused on Baltar's hand when he was talking about the five cylon models after "communicating" with the hybrid. The five, representing a hand. Heck, hand of god even!
