Or was it just that ship because of what it meant to him during his days as a pilot? Seems to me thats something he would have carried with him since the end of the first was and onto all his other commands.
Just face it. There is no fixing this. You might as well start trying to explain the Kessel Run, when the obvious answer is that George Lucas is, in reality, kind of an idiot.

But Kessel Run was explained in AC Crispen's Han Solo Trilogy...pretty successfully, in my opinion.

I know it can't be explained because everytime you find there is a possible explanation it is yet again shot down by something else said later in the episode. It's more a matter of minimizing the damage, hopefully continue with better episodes and like JMS once said about "Grey 17 is Missing", nudge this thing off a pier and pretend it never existed. Its a shame too. Because while the whole bulldog being set free to kill adama premise was a little weak it did have some solid scenes, most notably with Tigh who has been consistantly great so far.
Go figure, this episode was written by David Eick, who I believe has had the privilege of writing most of the weak episodes. There's a clue in there somewhere for RDM...

Considering that the line is scripted so that Obi-Wan's reaction indicates that he knows completing any sort of run in "12 Parsecs" is a steaming pile of bull. It seems Lucas intended the line to be scientifically impossible, in order to underscore the contempt Han Solo had for the couple of rich rubes who were hiring them.

they probably left it in on purpose and Scifi Standards & Practices got scared by the FCC(even though they have no jurisdiction). Up until the Janet Jackson thing, they were saying B***S*** on Broadcast TV pretty regularly after 8pm(9Eastern).
Stupid Janet Jackson.....
Did he say bullshit, though, or fuck? It caught me off guard, but it looked more like fuck to me, which is really just a straight up continuity issue in the language (something Firefly did better, even if was obnoxiously cutesy at times).
Well, BSG doesn't have that many awkward linguistic problems. The use of Chinese in Firefly was very odd, it really stood in sharp contrast to the cowboy style of the show. BSG doesn't have anything like that at all.
I've gotten fairly used to frack as a curse word by now. It's a good example on how to bypass those silly attempts at censorship and I like it.
"... these people are our first line of defense against terrorism, but the word "frack" makes them cry." - paraphrasing Lewis Black. :D
I rewatched the scene and it was definately "bullshit attitude". There's really no need to censor it as its on cable. Maybe its because of the timeslot but plenty of cable shows now go around saying shit like its no big deal and no one says anything. The FCC can't do anything as its cable. Most of the FX channel original shows for example curse all the time.

No chance. However, at the beginning of Resurrection Ship Part I, during the Viper chicken match, it sounds like Hotdog says "Fucking frakers!" over the radio. He probably didn't really say that, though. And, similarly, in "Scar," Kat slurs her "frak" at one point so it sounds like "fuck."
Lets not forget the epidsode where baltar is getting the head scan and won't sit still. Cottle lets out a what the fuc...they cut it off just right sa he finished but it pretty much all came out.
Oh damn, I just saw the new teaser for the next episode. Ok, I'm intrigued now, I just want to finally find out what the hell happened between Lee and Kara. They showed them getting busy and then the next day she apparently goes and marries Anders.

I've been wondering what the rift was between them since 'Lay down your burdens;' I knew it had to have been more than just 'look at my new boyfriend Lee!'
Earlier in the week I watched the mini series to remind myself of how the show started. One thing that struck me was the scene when 6 met Baltar outside. She was carrying that little brief case and when Baltar left to go to his important meeting, 6 turns round and says something like "good I've been waiting for you" to some one. Who was it? We never find out. Maybe it was Boomer. If not maybe it was one of the other 5... from the expression on her face she wasn't all too thrilled to see who ever it was.
Can't remember if any one has brought this up before.
The miniseries is actually not exactly canon (they say basestar, among other things). But that aside, it's nothing. The scene clearly has no further substance and what just designed to make her role as a spy clear to the audience. I doubt anyone was even standing there for the shot.

...and colonials have used the term basestar as well as baseship in the series since then (I used to believe that they only said baseship, but when I rewatched a few seens, I realized I was mistaken.)
Right ok. I thought maybe it would have been a hint/teaser to something cropping up much later.
Thinking ahead it will be interesting to see what Moore does if and when they find Earth. The interesting thing being what level the 13th colony will be at. In the old series (or was it the stupid movie they made) they found Earth but darn we were stuck in our backward little 80's. I wonder if the 13th colony will be space bearing still or have abandoned their technology.

Yeah, there have been a few screwups since (among other things, like saying amen, Lee directing a ship "left, full", etc), but there is significantly more of this in the miniseries. In terms of the little details of the world, the language, the culture, etc, the miniseries is only loosely canon. Don't read any more into it than what it originally was: not intended to launch a show.

If I recall correctly, Moore has said they'll never find Earth. Whether that is true or reliable, I don't know, but if they do, Earth will likely be neoprimitive (some kind of post apocalyptic, vapid morality play, I guess), genuinely primitive (which will launch the sequel show, Stargate BSG-1), or equally advanced (launching the other show, which it practically already is, at this point: Battlestar Trek).

It has been brought up before quite a few times. That scene was placed just as the cylon fleet should have been entering the vecinity and in striking distance. It was a sort of means of indicating they had arrived. She wasn't talking to any specific person but it was more of a way of letting know that someone is in communication with her and they are letting her know it has begun. She sort of looks up to the sky as if referencing something above her. I suppose they were supposed to have some quasi telepathic wireless way of communicating but that was never followed up on.

I'm with you Falcon; I believe there may be more to the Six meet in the mini...then again, maybe we've been spoiled by JMS' foresight in B5;)
Arethusa, I actually wasn't referring to the basestar/ship terminology as indication of canon 'screwups,' but rather illustrating that the use of 'basestar' in the mini is canon. They obviously use basestar and baseship interchangably, and like it or love it, that's what they do.
The writer who did the novelization asked if he should tell who Six was meeting, but RDM told him not to, on the chance that they might decide to do something with it later.
I had thought they were going to handle it in "Epiphanies," but that didn't end up happening.

It's not what they do. After season one, they get a lot tighter about correcting baseship wherever it shows up, including in interviews and at conventions. They are not interchangable. As far as Moore is concerned, basestar is from the old series and baseship is the actual term.
And, yes, as many issues as I have with Straczynski's writing, he planned a lot out in advance. I am increasingly convinced Moore simply does not understand how to do that.

Happens a bit on BSG they drop little bits here and there as something to get followed up later but it never happens. I'm still waiting to find out who killed Valence on Colonial Day. JMS foresight has indeed spoiled us.

I think more of the blame for lack of serious future planning falls on David Eick. He has commented on interviews he's always more interested in getting into the now rather than tighing himself down in a story with future planning. He's also the mastermind behind such heinous crimes as the violent assasination of Adama's past in Hero. :D
