Well, I think that confirms a TOS era setting.

Worf

And the Enterprise, because remember that in this particular era, individual ships had insignia unique to them.

It seems to me that the movie is going to be named "Star Trek XI: The Orange Revolution"... ST goes Ukraine! A real low-budget movie then, I guess. ;)

I forgot about that bit. heh. If they don't, legions of fans will run in and express their thoughts with the trekkie equivalent of the Narn Bat Squad ;)

I hope they sell tickets, cause i'd pay to watch that...
• RubberEagleRubberEagle What's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
The funny thing is, this poster, though it is nothing more than the starfleet ....logo(can't think of the right word now)... has me much more excited about the movie than the Spider-man 3 teaser....

Probably the same reason the first pictures of the bridge of the Defiant from "In a Mirror, Darkly" made me (at least) feel the same way: Seeing those classic lines and colors reborn all shiny and new.

7 of 9 travels back in time and joins the Enterprise.

In order to defeat the Borg.

Worf

I really have a good feeling about this for some reason...

However, IMDB has Matt Damon as Kirk. While this is still speculation, I think I can live with the choice as I think he was (surprisingly) good in The Bourne Identity.

EDIT: After reading through the discussion board on IMDB, there seems to be a consensus on who should play Captain Pike, should he appear in the movie: Ray Liotta. I have to agree. Not only is he a complete badass, but he DOES look a lot like Jeffrey Hunter. Unfortunately, Trek doesn't seem like his thing so I don't think he'd do it. But then again, who knows?

Matt Damon will not play kirk. They are no where near casting yet. My guess is they just got the story approved, and decided to give us a teaser.

Remember, anyone with a computer can input information on IMDB.

I understand that. I was just saying that IF he was chosen, I wouldn't mind. That's all. :)
• Lord RefaLord Refa Creepy, but in a good way

Ray Liotta is great.. But he's in Uwe Böll movie.. So, if they'd pay him, he'd prolly do it.

When I saw that poster the first thing that struck me was "2008"... I thought "what the next film is gonna be set in 2008??? ok..."

But then it dawned on me thats the release date for the film.

Doh :D

Ray Liotta would be good but isn't he a bit too old now? Both Kirk and Pike to me were in their early 30's I would imagine in TOS. So we're going back further this time so they'll be even younger. Throw in Liotta and he would fit a character who's already a Captain or on his way to being an Admiral. Especially when you compare Matt Damon to Liotta. Damon would be just an Ensign.

Make-up works wonders.
• croxiscroxis I am the walrus
They don't even need make up anymore. They didn't use it for the intro of X3, it was all computer.

CGI only goes so far when you've still got to deal with live action actors. Overlaying CGI elements is always risky, as is the uncanny valley.
