Syd was always one of my favorites, i had always hoped that one day, he'd just kind of wake up and say "Ok world, here i am, lets go tour" when Waters and Pink Floyd got back together for a concert, i held out hope till the last that Syd would show.
there was a great DVD that came out a few years back, The Syd Barret story, was a very good documentary about his life and breakdown and subsequent life in seclusion.
" Come on you raver, you seer of visions
Come on you painter
You piper, you prisoner, and shine..."
Still, sad to see the death of a great British nut-case, rest in peace.
While Sid only wrote 1/30 of all Pink Floyd songs, about 1/5 of the songs on the last compilation album "Echoes" were witten by him. A testament to his genius, as well as the band's respect for the man.
