Stargate Yard Redux

Since I have a new, better Stargate model, I decided to do a new, better version of the only real picture I made with my first Stargate model, namely the 'gate in my backyard. I also added a little something to allow the inner ring to spin freely. I'm not 100% happy with where the rendered concrete meets the real concrete, and something seems off about the scale and/or perspective of it, but I don't know how to deal with that.

  • RubberEagleRubberEagle What's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
    Looks great!

for the seam inthe concrete you could use photoshop's "smudge" tool (i think that's the correct one)

Looks a lot better than the one in the current intro. A lot better.

I don't think it's the scale or the perspective as much as the sharpness. The camera has an imperfect lens, whereas the stargate was rendered in a pure environment. Adding some artificial distortion to it might help just a bit. A little bit of purple fringing, chromatic abberation, some noise. And while the lighting is good, it's not *perfect* The scene is a bit washed out, and the gate isn't. Fiddling with the levels should fix that.

Also, 20-30% larger might make it work better as a stargate in terms of the scale.
