I know. I was gonna put that first, but then I thought that the biggest flaw in the book, was that it ended.. So had to take that ½ star away. :)

But really.. Dont know how to express my feelings about the book other than that I loved it.. and wholeheartedly recommend for all to read. Along with other of Philip K. Dick's work.

Heh, good call, I think ''wtf'' was the first thought in my head when I finished it.

There's two chapters of a sequel he attempted to write in ''The Shifting Realities of Philip K. Dick'', worth checking out as it contains a lot of unrelased ideas and ''selected literary and philosophical writings''.

And good news for all Dick fans (croxis... resist...), A Scanner Darlky will be coming to the big screen this July; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0405296/

Apparently it's quite a faithful adaptation of the book, which has made me quite excited since it's my second favourite Dick novel.

Ok... I finished the book yesterday and it was entertaining. Somehow I thought the ending would pack more punch than it did since it's stirred up so many wtf!? -reactions but I thought it was maybe even too subtle an ending. The book only actually left one question unanswered for me, and that's about it. Hardly worth going 'wtf' over. :)

What I do like about the book is that it's so open-ended. It leaves so much for speculation, both from the pure realities of the world Dick depicts to the facts what this book actually is about. There's probably as many interpretations around as there are people reading it.

The one question that remains unanswered in the end is, in my opinion, the red line of the book. And it'd be an interesting topic to chew the fat on over a couple of pints.

Quite a bit of self-irony to be found on Dick's behalf and an interesting read.

Everyone said that the book begins slowly, so I gave it time, waited and when my interests peaked at their highest point, I was 3 pages away from the ending. That was a bit of a disappointment for me, but not regrettable at all. Something like my last relationship. :)

Overall I think it's an interesting and rather well-written peep at the human psyche, the motifs, values and lives of the little people -which we all in the end are- and that which drives us. Something like looking down at your reflection in the puddle and trying to grasp what life's like for the reflection that stares back at you.

Maybe the thing that I was disappointed at the most was that I pretty much wanted to read the inverted version of The Grasshopper Lies Heavy, wanted to know what the world would be had the Reich won... and I didn't quite get it. A little tease here and there, but not the whole shebang. It's like going after a hamburger and ending up only with the bread, lettuce and tomato. To that end, the back cover of the book is a bit misleading.

3 stars out of 5 in my book. Something to ponder on, but somehow I expected more. And I proverbially wanted my teeth to be kicked in in the end, something with more 'Oomph'.
