A good way to practice some opening lines in a 'controlled environment' (;)) is for example some sort of an exhibition where there's bound to be good looking women just for the looks. For example Car & Motorcycle shows and some such. Just remember to grab a camera with you and go talk to the ladies. Ask if they could pose for you so you could get some good shots of the whateveritisyourinatthemoment.
Sure, they're professional models mostly but most of the time the smiles you get off 'em are genuine. Especially with a few appraising words between shots.
Go home, study the photos (that which comes to mind is not obligatory) and repeat.
If nothing else, it's a good way to work on your opening remarks.
Or just outright outdo yerself and go ask some hot lass out for some coffee. (Not the hot sort right away ;)) But yeah, confidence is key.
One proven method is to learn how to be a good masseuse and secondly to enjoy being a good cunning linguist (pun intended) if that's your thing. I sure as hell know it's my cup of tea. 30 minutes is just a starter dish.. ;) If you know you have something in you that most of the gals can't really resist and you're at least average -looking, you'll gain some confidence right there. Means at the end usually help at the beginning too. :)
From the small-time to the big fish. The regular ascension technique. :) Also, making it a regular routine of going up and exchanging a few words if nothing else with the next interesting lookin' gal at the next round at the bar is also good practice. The most important step is the first one. Once you've broken the ice, digging deeper gets easier.
