The fourth console

Now, not all of these are Vista only (hard to say if any are, actually, and I know FFX isn't), but it's a fair bet that at the least, they won't look or play as good on other versions of windows.

    The reason DX10 will only work for Vista is because Vista contains a completely rewritten graphical subsystem. You can't just put DX10 on XP.

    I might consider the Wii, as I like Nintendo's philosophy, but I have never liked the idea of a machine dedicated solely to gaming. Doubly so that that machine is closed to the user.

    I wouldn't mind DX10 being Vista exclusive if Vista were at least a livable OS. It isn't. It's enormous, DRM crippled, and likely just as dangerous, sloppy, and shitty as every Windows version to come before it. I've been avoiding Linux for some time now for compatibility and gaming reasons, but if this is where Windows is going next, I may have no choice.
