Looking for a motherboard

SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
So I've got a little request for anybody interested in helping...

My roomate needs a new motherboard. He's looking for an NForce2 Socket A variant capable of running an Athlon XP 3000+.

His MSI board is on the brink of death, and is the one item left to troubleshoot. He's willing to pay, but would like to stay under $40 for a good board.

So if anyone would be willing to trade...please give me a ring on PM, AIM, ICQ, etc.

nuthen on newegg? Creigslist? I'd suggest ebay but I am weeze myself of buying used electronics on ebay

Ebay is asking too much from people whom neither of us trust. Craigslist is simply a matter of trust. If it were any less sensitive a component, I'd be fine with either, but it's the motherboard, so I'm asking you folks about it.

Finding it in stock is the problem.

Almost all older boards have long since been taken out of production.

Most importantly Sanfam, what socket are we talking about here?

He might have to bite the bullet and move to a newer Nforce chipset

Thanks, PSI-KILLER! Last time I checked, that board was actually out of stock. Glad to see it can be acquired!

    And Tyvar, Socket A.

The reason against the move is that any upgrade past the Nforce2 necessitates newer processor to fit the socket (unless I'm misinformed and the Nforce3/NForce4 boards can use Socket A processors...)

And of course, I *REFUSE* to recommend anything with a Via chipset. Every single board I've had with one has always been quirky, and SiS-based boards just slightly less so (but nowhere near as well equipped in terms of features)
