Yah, I'm kinda... bummed.

I do not like it. I do not like it at all.

It doesn't sound anywhere near as cool as "Revolution," which aside from being a cool name actually has good marketing potential too.

I like it. It sounds strange, but look at the idea behind the name, not the name itself.

If you do that, the whole thing just smells like Wii. But with the idea... there's just so much that the prospect that Nintendo's throwing in could offer that I'm more than excited. I'm damn near ecstatic.

Really. I'm no Nintendo-fanboy, but my 2 cents say that the big N is offering us something WAY original.

By the way Red Steel looks, I'd say that all I need to get in good shape is the punching bag and some Wii...

I'm a Wii bit excited and still don't smell any Wii. And that gets me riled up.

Check out the animation.

The animation is cool, yes. But it has nothing to do with the name. They could have done that with little grey blocks that weren't i's and still have called it Revolution.

You can write a multi-page essay explaining why a pile of shit is the way it is. But that doesn't make it any less of a turd.

You know, people were just as upset over the name DS, Nintendodogs. heck iPod is a dorkey name.
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
What I'm finding to be truly hilarious is how Nintendo somehow went this far without a single mis-step. Nothing but praise. CONSTANT worship from everyone.

And then they gave it a different name.

A year from now, Chapter 11. ;)

The idea of the remote is quite weird but it'll be interesting to see what games can be played on the console. In this day and age when games and machines are generally classed as safe and generic its great to see Nintendo creating something that might be a risk, it simply might not sell. Risks are so rare so I say great bring it on! Mind you I dowt I will be getting one, a name is a name people will get used to it even if it sounds kiddish "weee" but it could be interesting and fun for a few minutes :)

I've been pretty excited for this thing ever since I heard Gabe and Tycho talking about it at Foolscap. I think it really could be a "Revolution" for video games, but I just hope Nintendo can pull it off and don't release stupid games.

I heard that every Nintendo game ever released will be on this? Anyone have any idea if that's true? Like Super Metriod and River City Ransom, maybe even ones not released in the US, like Shodai Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun? Or is this just some stupid rumor, since it does sound pretty strange.
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
The Wii features emulation of all Nintendo consoles and also a couple of Sega ones. It can play GameCube games directly off the discs, and other games are bought through a built--in store and downloaded to the console (price estimates are around $US5 per game, as I recall). The console comes with a prettyfied controller suitable for playing the old games.
