I just saw it, and I think it may have had the most insultingly misleading trailer I've ever seen. It was still an excellent film, but I was really expecting a different direction.

    That's better than a trailer that gives you the whole plot so you don't need to see the movie.

    I thought it was pretty extreme. It's not about plot details (though those were also very different from what the trailer led me to believe) so much as the complete absence of hope. That's a very substantial difference.

    Arethusa: Go and see the trailer for "Spider" and then rent the film...

    I mean, one of the most fascinating trailers and just about the most boring films ever. EVER.

    Sheesh, I still get riled up about it.

    I think I'll have to pass. I just saw A History of Violence, and I don't know if I can take more of Cronenberg disappointingly fucking up enormous potential.
