Oblivion
Rhett
(Not even a monkey)
in Zocalo v2.0
Well I didn't see a topic floating around about Oblivion (sequel to Morrowind), so I figured I would start one to see if any of you are buying it/what you are planning on playing as/general thoughts. As for me, I have my preorder in even though I know I will probably not be able to play for a while- but after eight weeks of insane class and work (and another eight weeks coming up) I figured I could get it right away and play a couple hours a week. So, anyone else planning on giving it a go?
P.S. If this has already been discussed and I missed it while away, feel free to chastise me :D

So for example, here is what I think I will be playing as (if you have any thoughts feel free to share them). Planning on playing as a charasmatic ranger character who switches between sword and bow (using swords primarily, however). I do not plan on using magic extensively (every once in a while using a destruction spell or healing spell), nor do I plan to thieve except for every once in a while.
IF I can get 2-3 GOOD clients before then, I'll be able to pay off my debt and get some MUCH needed upgrades to play a game like that.
I figure I'm about 2 (good) months from playing it.

Good luck with that, sounds like you are busier than I am! It's probably going to be two months before I get time to play it for a significant amount of time, but oh well. Anyone else looking into getting Oblivion?
oblivion is great!
so much fun
so much joy
and so relaxing, once you get out of those damn sewers and can begin wandering around the countryside, enjoying the scenery :)
dear lord oblivion looks beautiful
i was wandering around the capital and it started raining :)
then i went out into the countryside and it stopped
so i stood on a cliff and watched the sun set and the stars come out
i was standing on a cliff overlooking a lake with a dock on a small island in the middle and a sailing ship in it (still not sure what a large sailing ship was doing on a lake) with hills on the other side and mountains in the distance
(Looking at the map now, I can see that it's actually a very long, narrow inlet, not a lake.)
I can run it with all the detail sliders at max at 1024x768 and it runs smoothly, which I'm very pleased about. My only complaints are that the grass popping into existence takes a while to get used to and Spoiler: that Patrick Stewart isn't in it enough.
I can't still deside if I want to buy Oblivion for my computer or xbox360.
Im not sure I like. Its pretty enough, but there is something to be said about RPG's with real human interaction. It gets boring playing an RPG by myself.
Ill just stick to playing Burnout (last night I was 142 on the server and I have won a headset), Bejeweled and Blazing Angels came out today, gotta go pick it up.
I Spoiler: that Patrick Stewart isn't in it enough.
Spoiler: Sean Bean makes up for it
AHHHH.
See you on the other side Firstoneans..
:::Slips DVD disk installs and laughs like a crazy man::::
smoothish indoors, like, 10fps outdoors...still fun! :D
I got it....playing on a 9600 Pro at 800x600 it's STILL beautiful!

I'm playing with most of the available graphics options on, including Bloom and excluding shadows, at 1024x768 with maximum visibility and the 'fade distances" set around the middle.
Everything runs silky smooth absolutely everywhere. Except the West Weald region for some reason where it starts to chug slightly.
My 768 megs of DDR 2100 Ram are dead
mostly dead anyway
I'm pretty much using SOLELY the pagefile. :D
ouch
Plays amazing and silky smooth, I can't stop playing!! Why can't I stop? Oblivion plane on other side of gate was like Doom only more open.
Also, you could see your hand two inches in front of your face. :)
Days passed 253
Active quests 5
Quests completed 140
I am curious when will you know when you are really done? Any one have all quests completed? Well Met Game!!!!
I really enjoyed playing a witch hunter.. :)
from high-res texture packs, to weapons (Some good ones) to quest, to details like seasons, birds, and insect life, to real Ranger charector (With pet) to the ability to recruit people to your group and go question with NPCs...but if you do that you may want more bad guys, so get Adrenalin Oblivion that adds hordes of baddies! No more 2 skeletons in a dungon!
(Yes, these are all out)
Great thing about the Mod community is, you can choose to NEVER be done. :D
