That's been there for a while. One version of Google Earth even shipped with it as a predefined favorite :D

It's interesting that the resolution is so much better than the surrounding area...

  • Do you know the close up views you see are pratically 10 years old right?

I know several things about my area, and one day I noticed a couple things were missing/there that should have been/not been there.

One one more thing I noticed, is any graphic editor should have noticed the thing was pasted in the wrong place, the roads and mountains totaly do not match up.

And another thing... they have an automated pull system for aircraft? I noticed lines in the middle of all the roads, and any aircraft parked is perfectly aligned on thoes lines.

They look like they line up pretty well to me, as do other high res views in other areas. There are always going to be slight differences between aerial photos (which is what the highest resolution ones are) and satellite photos due to the effect of cameras (can't remember the specific term, don't think it's parallax but it's similar). This makes it impossible to line up the aerial and satellite photos perfectly, and depending on the quality of the aerial photos, may make them just plain wrong.
