Did SG-1 just jump the shark?

This week's episode was pretty bad. I seriously think that Amanda Tapping was too pissed off to act. I've been the first to defend Season 8/Season 9 SG-1 in the past, but wow, even I have to admit that this is pretty bad...

The plot played out like a bad Sci-Fi Channel original movie.

The show jumped the shark when S8 ended. It may be able to make a recovery, but they're not even trying. If anything good happens, it's purely by accident.
  • Sanfam's statement is accurate. Fortunately the first two seasons of SGA have been pretty decent.

SGA is the only thing keeping SG alive as far as I can tell.

"jump the shark" ...........never head that one before:)

I knew what the phrase meant, but I never knew where it came from. Now, not only do I know, but I've had an entertaining read.

Then of course, there's also "Jumping the couch":

    Unfortunately, yes.

Setting aside the complicated analysis relating to plots, characters, and writing; the show has become just plain boring. :(
  • They should find an ancient gate that leads to another dimension that only opens from our side and find evil aliens who want nothing more then to destroy all living things....

    That would be cool.

2 things happened to kill SG1 (before the bad writing):

    1. Earth was no longer vunerable to the Goa'ould after the finding of the Ancient base; thus there was no threat anymore.

    2. The major character General Hammond left moving Jack O'neil out of his best position to be a General, then he too left.

If they wish to continue the post-O'neil era in an interesting way, they need to come up with a story arc that advances a new focal point rather than drifting without focus. The best way would be to scrap the offworld mission focus and to focus on the governmental end, perhaps on how the world reacts to finding out about the Stargate program. This could wrap the show nicely and prelude into an interesting post-world-knowledge sequel with an entirely different cast.

    Wasn't that the storyline for a B5 movie? ;) :D
