The 2006 Gates Are Here

...and it's about danged time, too! ;)
Well, I've been lazy about putting everything together, and I didn't want to advertise the model until it was ready to go out, but now it is. Anyway, I've remodeled my Stargate from scratch, and I do believe it is far superior now in accuracy, detail, and general prettiness.
First, to refresh your memory check out the old version.
Now, get a load of the new version, in all its glory.

This uses the lighting setup and cove object from the LWG, by Jason T and Lightwave7871. And, after using it, it's the only way to show off your models. Well, if you're me, at least. Gad, it just brings everything right out on the modeled details and textures.
There are three versions of the main model, a low, medium, and high-detail version. For file-size reasons, I'm putting the high-detail version up separate of the rest of the archive.

Now, some of these next images were made while the model was still being fined tuned, so there may be minor details that are different.

And, don't forget it's animatable. You'll need an up-to-date version of Quicktime to view these.

Go here to download it. The model is only available in Lightwave format, and has been only used on my copy of Lightwave 8.0, 8.3, and 8.5, depending on what was out while I was working on it. ;) (The "6.5" in the read me is a typo). You can try it in older versions of Lightwave, but I'm not sure how well it will work.
"Stargate 2.0" is the main archive, "Stargate 2.0 Highring" is the high-quality mesh of the main gate, and "Stargate 2.0 Puddle Moving" is the animated texture map used for the event-horizon effect (yes, I cheated it. So what? :) ) You can also render your own event-horizon texture map with a scene in the main archive. Also, if you aren't animating it, a still version of the texture is included in the main archive. Personally, I think the animated version looks better even in stills, but it's your choice.
More details on the making of, self-criticism, and plans for the future are to come. For now, just tell me my model's pretty, and feel free to take it for a spin yourself. ;)

Comments
I may have to fiddle with it in the near future.
Also, just to clarify (and I edited this into the OP, as well), the model is for Lightwave only. I'll help out anyone who wants to try to convert it for another program, though.
