Random ChaosActually Carefully-selected Order in disguise
Annapolis, MD (stations from Baltimore, MD mostly). Every channel airs in 720p or 1080i (about half at each) over the air. Several have a 2ndary channel at 480p for those without widescreen.
RubberEagleWhat's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
hey, i've got a question to all you guys who seem to know quite a bit about this stuff: I recently got myself a LCD-HDTV (and i of course have an HDTV-beamer), so now i'm thinking about getting a DVD-player that can upscale the picture. The "cheapest" I found was a Denon DVD 1920 that cost 379€...
Do you know any cheaper players, that still have a good scaler-chip?
Random ChaosActually Carefully-selected Order in disguise
I remember hunting around and seeing a $150 Sony that sounded pretty good, but I haven really finished researching that since I'm not buying a DVD player for another couple months. Until then I'm just using the svideo output on my laptop :D

I've stumbled across the sony dvp-ns92v, wich is cheaper, but it only outputs HD-signals through the HDMI output, and my beamer only has DVI, and i'm pretty sure it doesn't have HDCP...

Honestly, I'd wait about 6 months until Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are out, at first they will be pricey, but after they have been out for a while, they will not only come down in price, but will drive the price of traditional DVD players down.

Dude, i need to move there! lol
I'm not sure what my local digital stations broadcast in, i'm actually in a bit of a pickle there,
I have DirecTV, as i'm really far from my transmitters and have to get one of those big assed arials for my roof to get local stations, (and i rent, so i dunno if i can put one up)
DirecTV thinks i live in NYC still, so i get my local stations, if i want to get my local stations here in maine, i'd have to get a waiver from my local networks saying that i cna't get a signal here. and technically i CAN get a signal, so they wont do a waiver.
ugh

I'm just wondering when they'll get to europe... [/B][/QUOTE]
I'm just waiting for the price to drop. and for HD/BLue-Ray DVD drives for the computer to come out. and for the price of the Discs to drop, we're just now to the point where blank DVD's are cheap, Dual Layers are still ungodly expensive. and i'm sure that BLue-ray/HD-DVD blanks are going to end up being $10 bucks apiece to start.
