Paid myself silly with import taxes and postage but damn it makes a nice table ornament. :)
I'm just hoping the day never comes when I actually look at the overall price tag, then look at the T and think "My God... what the hell was I thinking?!
The day is sure to come. ;) But then again, it's a collectible.... number 04xxsomething / 2000. In the first quarter, nevertheless. :p
When I had this in the trunk on my trip back from the customs office, I stopped by a local store and for the hell of it picked up a set of Harry Potter Legos for my girlfriend (The Knight Bus) (she's found her inner child as of late, it seems. Never a bad thing. :)). I couldn't help but think that my street credibility is now most definitely a flat out negative figure. :D
/EDIT 2000 post! w00! \0/ :)

Me sense of humour must be really twisted when I start immediately think such things. :D

Girlfriends like that are good to have!
Edit: And the figure is cool too.. :)
Come on mate, how much did you pay for it? ;)
Yarr! Aye, I hav killed for less, mate. ;)
Too much. Way too much. But since I'm still a student and the government more or less pays my rent... I have so low a tax percentage that I reasoned to myself that if I wanted to buy something crazy, this would be the best time to do it. :p
Messiah: Yeah, you're right. But then again, I really couldn't see myself getting serious with anyone whose actually grown up all the way. :) When you consider yourself too old for Legos, it's time to knock the coffin.
E.T. Can do. Or at least I know where you'll soon be able to get one... comes with free shipping too if you can cough up the $ 5950 :D.
My dad used to constantly lament at the sort of stuff I bought, or wanted to buy online...
It's also the reason why my parents aren't hearing about this until they visit us the next time. :D I actually haven't told about this to anyone else other than you guys yet. :D
Anyhoo, I had some ulterior motives for buying this too. The day I placed the order for the statue I also went through my first and hopefully last surgery ever. Miniscule as far as survival goes, but nevertheless an experience in itself.
Also, as a kid I used to be extremely fascinated by the human skeletal structure (drew A LOT of 'em) and I simply loved most robots out there. Imagine this combination with the first impression of the T-800. :) Heck, if I loved a rusty barrel that was made to look a little like a robot... you get the idea.
Also, I'm guessing that it's probably this year that my sister announces that she's pregnant (sooner or later) and that she and her husband start shoving kids out the crack... So, in a couple of years I hopefully get to be the "Weird uncle with the cool robot." :D
And although I don't find it in me to parade this around everywhere, you can probably guess what I'll do when the next "Your desktop?" -thread appears on a couple of other forums that I regularly visit. ;) The good side is, that me' desk will finally arouse some WTF!? -moments, hopefully. :)

I can see a change in your user text coming on... :D
Seriously, I agree completely; I'd love to be able to buy the stuff I want without my parents giving me incredulous looks (one disadvantage of staying at home during University) because of my buying habits. I've had my eye on everything; from replica lightsabers, to medieval great helms and swords... The only collectors items my dad approves of are my Airsoft guns and Martini Henry. (The latter of which the bugger still secretly plays with and leaves cocked when he puts it back...)
Still, they have no idea I'm a furry, and are completely ignorant of the growing pile of anthropomorphic literature building in my cupboard... ;)
RE: parents, dads specifically...
They only approve when you show your first profit by selling that "worthless" toy to some other collector...
;)
Not that I would know first hand. My dad couldn't take care of his own business in family regards, so why would I put any weight in his opinion of my life and habbits...

If they have a hard time understanding why you'd want to collect Star Wars replicas, that one is going to knock them out of their gourds...

heh... Terminator Envy ;)

True. So very true. :p My dad runs his own business, so in this case even more so. :) I have some "earned ground" from profiting maybe some couple hundred euros from small retro game trafficking, from eBay to a Finnish auction site.
But nothing that would warrant this, I presume. :) And I don't think I'm going to sell this, at least not anytime soon. More probably it's going to stay with me as it is and if need be, get the nooks and bruises fixed. (Poseable upper torso, moving joints, some plastic parts and a household of domesticated, yet rather energetic animals = not a good combination ;)) It's here to remind me of a couple of things and plain look cool, monetary value is secondary, if none. If I would've bought this for the dollar signs, I never would've taken it out of the box. :)

Quite. I think the question will be posed when I first ask my mum to iron my Eric Schwartz t-shirt... ;)
