• While the other complaints i have read are probably valid, if nitpicky, his problem with the hardrive sounds like an IDE controller issue. I think 130 GB was around the limit on the old IDE controller spec, 16 bit i think.

Edit: Nevermind, apparently his ubuntu disc detects it fine on same MoBo.

I don't know if many of those "complaints' are even valid... Some are just nitpicky to the point of rediculousness.

No, but I plan on buying new windows...these old ones ones aren't secure..

    OMG...unintentional humor... :)

I believe the applicable phrase is "tongue in cheek." He's writing it the same way all the "I tried switching to Linux!" ones are written. People switch to another OS and expect it to be identical to the one they just left (usually Windows), so they then complain about being unable to find the control panel, or the file browser not having a pane down the left with common tasks, stuff like that. This guy's taken the opposite approach: where's the package manager? What are those random icons on the desktop? Why does the installer only support NTFS and FAT32? And so on.

    oh no I don't! :D

I switch because I am hoping it isn't identical to the old one!

'twas understood, but there are so many better things to satire than such trivial elements.

of course, the aspect of it as a satire didn't hit me until earlier today, so...yeah. Guilty to gullability ;)

Just like we all know, thanks to Eclectonaught, that Sanfam's "title" is missing an L. :D
