2006 Thankful thread...

in Zocalo v2.0
This idea was started on another forum I frequent, and I thought it'd be cool to do here.
Things have been negative all around for a while now, so I stepped back and thought about what has changed for the better.
I have made changes in my priorities in recent years. I love graphic work and web development, but not at the cost of my sanity or health. Home and family are first...
I am thankful for:
1. Becoming practically debt free this year, and gaining a new home and land in the process, that we just love.
2. For the first Thanksgiving and Christmas in memory without nosey and busy-body neighbors, and for the lack of visiting family members that make themselves feel better at your expense and generally ruin holidays, and just an overall restful, stress-less close to this year.
3. Real sleep for the first time in a long while.
4. More time to do things like wood work, Lightwave, and outdoor activities on my own schedule.
5. The job I have that pays the odds and ends so I don't have to dip into savings, and that I can work with my hands on mechanical stuff. Also that when the day is over that I can leave work at work, and not bring it home with me.
6. Most importantly I am thankful for the friends I have come to know both online and in person. I marvel sometimes at how much better some e-Friends are than those in Real Life are sometimes.
7. After the loss of two close pets last year and the previous christmas before, I am thankful that our remaining one has survived the move and is always happy to see me when I get home.
8. Lastly, I am thankful for my wife who, without which I wouldn't be where I am now, and that she has stayed with me and grown in the same direction as I have all these years (25 years together from high school, 16 married).
For me, and I wish for everyone else, in this coming year of 2006, is rest and healing.
;)
Cheers!
