Wallace & Gromit : Curse of the Were-Rabbit!

Lord RefaLord Refa Creepy, but in a good way
Went to see it last nite..

Have to say, from the three movies seen last week, this was the best in all. The other two being Doom and Brothers Grimm.

Everything about it just clicked and didnt feel like checking the time or yawning.

Was a bit worried in the beginning, when they showed this short animation of those penguins from Madagascar, dubbed in finnish... But luckily hadnt gotten to wrong movie. It was in english...

Laughed out loud at places and it was just the kind of Aardman quality I've learned to expect. Way better than Chicken Run.

Wallace & Gromit rules always.

I got that madagascar short too. I think it was an attempt to mimic the old tradition of having a short movie before the start of Disney movies, plus a bit of a dig at Pixar's trend of doing the same. Pity it was bad. It wasn't all that funny considering its length.

As for the actual movie, it was great. :D

Funny coincidence, I took my daughter to see it yesterday, too. The short may have lsot some in translation, because it was funny from our point of view. And Ardman definately scored another hit. I'm not sure how he did the floating bunnies in the BV6000, but it was incredibly funny!

Yeah, the kids and I loved it as well. The penguins were funny to us, but not nearly as good as the main feature.

Too bad their studios burned down. :-(
  • whaddya mean the studio burnt down...

The warehouse storing all of the bits and pieces for the characters burned with all of the stuff there..

So if they wanna do another Wallace & Gromit, they got to start from scratch. :S

No, they don't. What burnt down was a warehouse storing sets and props from the original short films and some awards. The clay models for characters don't keep and are thrown away after each movie, so they make those from scratch every time anyway. All the Curse of the Were-Rabbit stuff was stored elsewhere.

Oh okay.. Cool and good then.

I had been misinformed by the Metro magazine.

So, let's hope they put their hands to it, and make a new movie soon.. :)

One of my mates works at the actual studio, (as has been said, it was the warehouse that burnt down) ironically as a Fire Safety Officer. His dad is also the co-founder of Ardman. Just my little claim to fame... ;)
  • SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
    With that information made public...
I *demand* a signed copy of Chicken Run :D
  • This is going to sound awfully predictable, but he doesn't like to talk about it. His best mate only found out about it a few years ago. :D

Damn. You are now tasked with getting said signage ;)

More seriously...it's still a really cool thing. Aardman is one of the only studios working the stop motion medium anymore, and they've done a spectacular job of it time and time again.
  • I grew up on Wallace and Gromit as a kid. I remember going to see the actual public showing of "A Grand Day Out" at the Arnolfini cinema at the Bristol dockside. (Nick Park decided to view it before the BBC bought it.) I must have been around 8 or 9...

You're right about Ardman being the best of stop-motion there is, although the few episodes of "The PJs" I've had the privilege of seeing have had me in stitches. :D

BTW: I'll *try* and get signage, if at least for myself, I see the guy down the pub every Thursday night... :p
