Right now the documentation on the python and xml aspects are still comming together. The engine code wont be out until next year. The design document MUST be finished before any production starts, but so far only sanfam and I have really participated and I'm waiting for him to be around to get some issues resolved.
And at the moment, I've neither got civ nor enough time to spend reading/editing the design doc right now to make any worthwhile progress. Once I'm back in rochester, I'll likely have the time for everything.
Sorry to make you guys wait, but count me out, my internet access availability is too scetchy for me to be a reliable player. I'm lucky to check my e-mail once a week, or to even post this. May next time.
Tried 'playing' Civ 4 for a few hours. This is by far one of the most incompetently programmed games I have ever tried to play. When Sid fixes the damn thing, maybe I'll be able to try playing with you guys.
They releaced an xp patch for SMAC and SMACX YEARS after the game stoped being sold.
They releaced patch 1.09 that fixed the major show stoppers.
Take2 moved the releace date up very late in the games production, had this been done sooner Firaxis would have been able to compensate.
Firaxis is working on another patch.
Quite a few other games have this problem as driver/hardwar/OS upgrade combenations are becoming almost unmanagable. Firaxis (which was bought by Take2), like other developers, are really starting to perfer developing for concels. Unless microsoft and the hardware people start getting their act together, pc gaming will suffer as developers leave to other systems.
