WORFWORF The Burninator
On Saturday I got to meet:

And of course, I interviewed him. I didn't say in advance because I didn't want to disapoint people, so I looked at the last thread to get questions for him.

Q) How did you go about creating your character/ how much independence did you have?

Bruce Boxleitner: Creating the character wasn't difficult, I had a great character written for me. At first I think, when I first came on, Michael O'Hare had just left the show and his character. And mine was just kind of generic, he didn't quite have an actor for him, Joe hadn't even given him a name yet, he was going to be Striker or Strider or something like that. Then I came on and he became John Sheridan.

You notice how all of the leading characters have the initials JS. Jeffery Sinclair, John Sheridan, Joe Straczynski *laughs* so Joe had fun with that. Anyway thats basically it, he was such a well written character I think the rest of it speaks for itself really, there was very little I had to do except take the material I had and play it.

Q) When playing a character, do you find roles in a television show or a movie more interesting to portray? Why?

BB: The roles in television and film are the same process. I finished a movie two weeks ago in Vancouver.

ME: What was that?

BB: Double Cross, its a thriller. I played a wonderful villain in it, a very bad husband. It was a very hitchcock kind of film. It will probably go onto DVD, its the same process. You don't do a tv show one way and a movie another, its all acting.

Q) What turned you on to acting?

BB: I discovered acting when I was in high school, it was something else to do other than go to school and there were alot of pretty girls in the drama department, I didn't make it in basketball, so I had to do something else and I also liked it because I was always a big television fan and I had alot of exposure to the theatre.

But it was something that after my first experience, I was in a play Ten Little Indians by Agatha Christie. I so enjoyed the process and the thrill of it all, putting on the show, the costumes and the rehearsals. And that was it, I knew what I wanted to do, I didn't know how I was going to go about it.

I didn't have a theatrical background in the family, I was a middle class kid. I had to go to Chicago, then I went onto to New York and then onto Hollywood.

I was able to ask a few more questions, which will be posted tomorrow, some hints as to what was discussed: Serenity, TMoS, Green and Purple.

Wow, great interview, he really provided complete, sincere answers.

Just curious, how do you present yourself when arranging an interview and how do you catch enough of each actors time to get a reasonable series of questions in?

For Ed Wasser and Claudia Christian, I approached them where they were sitting and meeting fans. They didn't have many people so I asked them and they did the interviews right there.

I tell them its for a website and thats about it.

This time, Bruce Boxleitner had alot of people waiting to see him, more so than any of the other guests. I asked him if he would be willing to do an interview and he said yes but I had to talk to the guy running the event to get some time to do it.

So I did and before he went to lunch, I got taken to an interview room with Bruce for 10 minutes to do the interview.

The event was the London Expo .

The rest will be posted later, then I am going to seal myself in a nuclear bunker so Biggles cant kill me.

Cool, definitely impressed with his candor, especially considering this only for a website, as opposed to a publication with actual circulation.

Biggles, I didn't know you actually had to "come" to the site, I just figured that your nutrient tank automaticly projected this site directly into your mind any time you were awake.

It does. To me, that is what "going to a site" means.
