Well this is what I get for letting a release glitch scare me away. I tried to pick up my copy yesterday, but everywhere was all sold out!
Who knew that turn-based strategy games were still popular... oddly enough I'm a little relieved too. I have this feeling once I get it my brain will be completely consumed. Forget about World of Warcraft or Silent Hill 4, I'll stop eating, sleeping, going to work, exercising, writing my stories. All for just one more turn...

No, the ai takes over,a nd if a player wishes to join they replace the ai as the player for the civ.
Where I come from thats not multiplayer. Im not playing pub games anymore only the passworded ones. People usually stick to it & will play based everybodies availability.
I have one good game going and the simultaneous turn feature makes it very interesting. You really have to plan things out no half assed single war elephant victorys.
I don't quite see how a single war elephant can make a difference in a simultaneous turn vs. sequential turn game, unless said game is being played by truly horribleplayers who put up inadequate defenses :p
Also, I don't see any reason to disqualify pitbull as multiplayer because it uses a different system. I find the concept to be fine.

ITs not its just random. It plays almost like an RTS. I landed 4 cavalry thinking i had a clean slate the guy had one musketeer but in a simultaneous turn your opponent can send units in before you have time to react. :/
Almost like a zerg rush. Brings back some horrible memories.
Duh, thats the point. There is no other way to go about simul moves; it's RTS inside a turn. And yes pitbull is still multiplayer. The gaming world is always changing bringing fresh ideas, and for PBEM games that could last for years (check how long the Multiplayer Demo games have been going), its a great idea.
