Is www.scifiboxsets.com legit?

Has anyone ordered the $167 complete Bab5 series on DVD from www.scifiboxsets.com? Naturally, the site says that the DVDs aren't pirated (just "foreign manufactured), but it just seems too good to be true.

Here's the link:

If anyone has any solid info, I'm sure we'd all appreciate it.

Yeah they are the same DVDs as sold on the highstreets in China. You can get all your favourite DVDs for really good prices out there... Great if you happen to live there. AFAIK they are not pirated, because well.. They are sold in respectable retailers. But I'm not 100% sure that these DVDs (also seen on eBay) are the same as those seen in those stores.

I would be very suspect. Even if it looks like a retail box from China, there's a very good chance it's just a forgery. Still, if it is pirated I would have expected the price to be a little lower.
The best thing to do would be to find out if WB does actually produce a Chinese edition of Babylon 5.

HuntSmacker: Just because something is sold in a respectable retailer in China, doesn't mean it isn't pirated. :)

Doesn't mean it is either. What, you think it's a mob town or something in China?

Funny, I don't recall ever saying that. I was merely pointing out that there are no guarentees. Try not to read too much into my words.

Well, I can't speak for Chinese retail stores, but I know that if such things are even considered in South Korean ones, you'd get hammered. This ofcourse, has nothing to do with street markets and such things, where fake stuff from A to Z can be found.

Perhaps I should clarify: are we talking about big chain stores or Bob's Respectable DVD Shop that looks respectable but isn't necessarily?
  • HuntSmackerHuntSmacker Firstones Ambassador to Starcraftia
Uhm, no. Maybe those everything is $1 stores? :P

Now those places are dodgy. :D In HK I saw a grand total of 2 big chain stores, but quite a few shops that looked respectable but offered to sell me pirated versions for less. I even had one shop where I was buying some PSP games in a computer mall offer to just copy them onto my memory card for me.

Well... moderate guesses have been that over 90% of content sold in China is illegal.
