DVD Double Dipping

I'm working on a little project on the prices of DVDs, and I need to know the names of some movies that were released in multiple editions, preferably within Region 1. I know of quite a few (All ten Star Trek movies, the Jack Ryan movies, several classic films), but every extra one would help, I think, so just post any you think of.

It doesn't just have to be bare-bones rereleased as a proper two-disc set, either. Just so long as it's the same title.

Thanks, guys.

Apollo 13 had many editions (two initially, plus one more recent one as I recall).
• Sin city has a special edition coming out in a few months.
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
Lord of the Rings? Although that might not count since the extended versions arn't even the same movie.

while there is only one at the moment, knowing George Lucas, there will be at least 4.8 billion versions of starwars eventually.

but as for current films

5th element has 2 versions
Princess Bride also has 2.

Are you looking for films only?

For the Farscape series, they've had at least 3 different releases.

1) Single DVDs, each with 2-3 episodes
2) Boxed sets
3) New edition of boxed sets

Only one? Clearly you havent' been paying attention.

There was the Original.
There was the updated 20-years-ago-with-extra-scenes-such-as-the-ice-cave-creatrure-being-seen.
There is the Updated (with the awful DS explosions and the mini-Jabba)
There is the Planned (with Luke remembering his mother in a flashback)

And then there are the ones we don't even know of!

Just leave a good thing alone, George!

:(

I believe the Element actually has three total. There was the original, then they released that superbit edition, and now they have a special/collectors/new version.

as for others
each of these also had critereon versions as well as the vanilla
Robocop
Armegedon
The Rock
(Armegedon and The Rock had awsome packages in the criterion versions as well)
There was multiple releases of:
Tombstone
Casablanca
Cowboy Bebop in R1 also had single disc releases and then the full Series
X-Men
Terminator 2
Scream

Those are all the ones that jump out at me from my shelf.

Edit: Just remembered, all 4 Alien films have had multiple individual releases and boxed sets.

Well if you want to mention box sets, I could go on for ever just from my shelf alone... :D But I don't think they really fit the bill since they're just the single disc releases bundled together and shoved in a box.

Cowboy Bebop is worth mentioning for another reason, though. A new version is due to be released in a couple of months. Same goes for Neon Genesis Evangelion; over the past year a new version with cleaned up video and audio has been released.

i forgot about the superbit!
• ArethusaArethusa Universal Cathode
Desperado has something like three or four editions plus the Superbit.

The Bourne Identity had the initial release and then a second release with less material than the first disc. To my shame, I own both.

Also, guys, I don't think he's talking about special/collector's editions so much as rereleases after initial releases, etc.
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
From what I could tell, each "Release" of a disc would most certainly include the collector's/director's editions, as they're way too often just part of marketing.
• ArethusaArethusa Universal Cathode
They are a part of marketing, but double dipping is generally specifically referring to attempts to rerelease material that forces people to purchase multiple editions of the same film. Releasing two editions of the Bourne Identity, the second disc replacing the first and still managing to have less content (and only a tiny amount of new stuff) qualifies. Releasing a standard and collector's edition of Black Hawk Down at the same time does not; I was free to purchase the collector's edition and not the standard edition.
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
Well, simultaneously or not makes all the difference. :D I guess it's a bit of my fault for misreading your post.
• David of MacDavid of Mac Elite Ranger Ca
It's more important to me that they were released at different times than if they had the same features, just to be sure.

Thanks for all the responses so far!
• MessiahMessiah Failed Experiment
Neon Genesis Evangelion have two different releases..
• I have bought 3 diffrent editions of Starship Troopers and Saving Private Ryan.

Damn them for finding a way for me to buy a movie 3 diffrent times! (4 if you count the VHS editions)
