DOOM Movie
Vorlons in my Head
The Vorlons told me to.
in Zocalo v2.0
Don't know if anyone else has seen this but the much rumored DOOM movie is done:

Seems like they kept it pretty faithful to the DOOM 3 game. Supposedly theres like a 6 minute long scene in first person view like the game which everyone who's previewed says was awesome. I know movies based on games always suck but I'd like to see this :D

(oh yes)

I think they just took out the references to hell but kept the monsters and everything else.
Worf

We do, but from what I've read in the past, they changed the definition from the all mighty Big F*cking Gun to some scientific term.:(
The trailer said it was on Mars.
Seems like I was misinformed! :D
Ah well, it still looks pretty far-detached from the game. Might be worth a look for G36 variant gun-porn...

It isn't even set on Mars, or includes demons for that matter. Yet another bastardization of a classic concept.

Morden
It is set on Mars and it does include demons. That was just a rumor that was floating around that they had changed everything. All of the demons are supposed to be straight from Doom 3 and in the clip you can clearly see the Imp. Most of the actors and people involved are fans of the game and have played it. ID is was involved in it as well.

*Slaps forehead in dismay*
F*cking owned... :D
In that case, I may well go and see this particular motion picture! I cannae wait!

As long as its not another Resident Evil. The fact that Paul Anderson wasn't involved is a plus already.
i may be the only person who loved that movie... course, Milla may have had a lot to do with that...
Will be interesting to see what Doom is like. The trailer looks interesting. At least the Rock can carry an action role very well.
Milla was very hot I have to agree. And Michelle Rodrigez was tasty in her kick ass mode (again!). I just didn't like the way Anderson directed the film, it didn't flow, characters were weak. It just didn't click for me. And for a Zombie film it wasn't that scary really.

Oh yes, Michelle Rodriguez was also quite nice, but Milla in that red dress with the black boots, Mmmmm... but i digress.
Oh yea, Milia rocks, Michelle sucks (never liked her in any role I've seen her in.)
It's much more fun to do the shooting than watch it.
No hell reference at all.. :(
Y'know, the fact that it's faithful to the game doesn't make it a good movie. Demons? On Mars? Ooookay.
Summarizing it with "demons on Mars" is like summarizing T2 with "killer cyborgs taking over Earth." Sure, it's what the movie is about, and they can both be made to sound pretty cheesy, but it doesn't really say if the movie's going to be worth anything or not.
Here they play the entended trailer of the movie. All I gotta say is I can't wait :D I'm really looking forward to this movie. I'm not expecting Oscar material but I think one thing Doom 3 did is that it was actually scarier than your average lame horror movie. If they capture the feel and atmosphere of the game in the film it should be entertaining at the very least. The only one thing I'm not liking from the previews are the uniforms. Why the hell are they wearing fairly normal looking military uniforms. Couldn't they spend a few bucks more on the wardrobe and make it look like the really cool space marine armor in the game?

I really don't get this cult of Michelle Rodriguez, of which one of my friends is regrettably a part. To be frank, she looks like a bulldog chewing a wasp, especially when she wore that perpetual scowl in Resident Evil. Give me Jenette Goldstein back when she played Vasquez in Aliens. *Growl*

that vasquez chick was way too butch.
Different strokes. I find women with a bit of muscle very alluring. Besides, Goldstein/Vasquez was also quite well-endowed if I recall, and not just with an M56 Smart Gun...

Morden
I have to agree with Morden with regards to Rodriguez, Goldstein was much better as a tough action chick. Btw, who spotted her in T2 in a much more docile role?
I've also seen her in 24. She was playing some kind of government official.

You should try the F.E.A.R. demo. Mostly quieter than doom, but managed to be a hell of alot creepier, just hearing it for about 30 seconds near the end made my wife have to leave the room. I personally can't wait for the full version.
I think people are getting confused because the zombies in the doom games, and also in the movie are all possessed humans. As are some of the other baddies.
And with FEAR's walk, though it is hard to get used to, I think it is a much more realistic bobbing motion. I have yet to decide weather I like that particular aspect of the game, but i love the fact that when you are on a lader you actually put your gun down and can see your hands actually climbing the ladder

So in other words, just like the game?
oooooh... buuuurn
