according to Gateworld the publishers have put The Alliance on hold:
In a surprise move, Austrian video game publisher JoWooD Productions Software AG announced today that they have put the brakes on Stargate SG-1: The Alliance and terminated the company's relationship with developer Perception PTY Ltd. The company believes that the game as it is being developed will not meet the quality expectations of fans.
While I am sad, I'm hoping that they were accurate in the reason for killing it. They seemed to be pretty big fans of the show, so it seems reasonable that they'd know what the fanbase would feel in response to it. Maybe someone will pick it up?

i hope so, but ive a horrible feeling that this is gonna go the way of ITF. i hope im wrong

Well, they've stated the possibility of transferring the assets to another company, so I don't think it's quite the same deal. ITF was locked down and shoved into a closet. I'm suspecting that the fanbase will make enough noise to get it back.

I need a T-shirt that says:

"I'm an ITF survivor..." :p

Think we'd all buy one of those Jack. Darn was looking forward to that game, looked very promising. But if the quality wasn't going to be there then probably best to hault it and preserve the franchise. We don't need a glut of naff Trek type games for the SG universe.

And in new twist, it seems that The Alliance might not be as dead as it first appeared. It seems that the publishers (JoWooD) didnt exactly relay the entire story behind the 'cancellation'.
Stargate SG-1: The Alliance is not dead, Sydney-based developer Perception PTY Ltd. said in a statement today.

The developer is continuing work on the game and is pursuing legal action against publisher JoWooD Productions Software AG, which last week terminated the contract between the two companies

"To be clear, Perception is the official licensee of MGM on Stargate SG-1: The Alliance," the company said. "Any suggestion that JoWooD has rights to Stargate SG-1: The Alliance upon termination of the contract is incorrect and not based on commercial or legal fact.

"Development on the game will continue uninterrupted at Perception's Sydney studio. Perception is committed to giving fans the best gaming experience possible."

.....

"We view it as unfortunate that JoWooD would elect to make such misleading and libelous comments to the media and the marketplace," Perception CEO Ben Lenzo said. "Over the last nine months, JoWooD has openly acknowledged being in breach of contract in a number of areas including many legal and confidentiality breaches as well as several financial defaults for work performed by Perception and accepted by JoWooD."

indeed. and the name of the game is now somewhat ironic:D

I have to say, the financial history is certainly inline with their past ;)

but ohhhh, the drama!
• Falcon1Falcon1 Elite Ranger
Well that is a twist alright. Watch this space I suppose.

Considering the only decent game JoWood was the publisher for was Arx Fatalis. With that track record, and considering the fact that as far as I know Arkane studios has broken from JoWood, this could be a good sign, cause JoWood only deals in crap! ;)

Rally Trophy! Don't forget Rally Trophy!

Rally trophy? never played it, looked dumb, you know like the rest of JoWoods line up! ;)

?
• i'm with why, they have quite a few good titles as a publisher: silent storm, gothic, gothic 2, the upcoming gothic 3, spellforce and its expansions, spellforce 2 thats in the making, arx fatalis, aquanox 1 & 2 which wasn't all too bad and quite a few simulation games that aren't that crappy

i don't call that a bad lineup
• TyvarTyvar Next best thing to a St. Bernard
I already excepted Arx Fatalis, and I havent played gothic or its sequal cause fiding copies is impossible here in the US it seems.

Spellforce looked boring though, and the rest of their stuff, I stand by my claims as suck!

If this is turning into a US VS Europe thing, dont worry, I hate EA games with mindless ferocity, and I also believe they put out total utter crap too! :D

I hate sports games see...
