Wish they went with AMD damn it! But the good thing about this is MAC OS will be available on my PC W00T! And I will be able to run most games.

I don't see much bad in this other than throwing more money at intel.
• mixed feelings. (cheaper? 32bit as opposed to 64bit with the g5? itanium? being able to use all hardware out there? dual bootable?)

and i highly doubt that it will run on your pc. most likely there will be a hardware component thats special for intel macs (motherboard?)

for an interesting read check the insidemacgamers interviews with a few game developers and porters, half are terrified half are happy as hell - linky link

And we all know that various software has tried to deny working if a hardware dongle hasnt been present, something which of course has been hacked. If there isnt a major hardware component, like a cpu, which must be present for software to work, I dont think they can stop people from installing Mac OS X. Look at what people are doing with Xbox, PS, the portable Playstation....

I think it will become possible to run OSX on standard PC hardware, but it sure as hell won't be supported by Apple. :)
• croxiscroxis I am the walrus
I would think that it owuld be in apple's best interest to at least have the ability to run on normal pc hardware, even if it isn't supported. How many of do things that are supported anyways? :)

They've had that ability since they first started working on OSX; they just don't want anyone running Mac OS on non-Mac hardware, in part because it's much easier to provide tech support for a limited hardware set, and also because they like remaining separate from the rest of the industry. It adds to the mystique of the Mac.

Which is a fast disappearing social commodity when you've moved to Intel chips. In terms of pure utility, moving to Intel is probably somewhat beneficial. In terms of intangible marketing assets (eg Apple's "uniquely rebellious" thing), it's rather dangerous. Then again, Mac zealots are quite tenacious, so we'll see.

I don't think it will make much difference to most people. To the average user, the computer is a black box with cables coming out to things like the monitor, mouse and keyboard. They haven't a clue what's actually inside it, just that it does stuff.

Yeah, but then he came up with a structured chemical model for a substance that technically can't even exist using nothing but the keyboard... on a Mac Classic!

Yeah. Scotty rocks.
