Future Babylon 5 games

WORFWORF The Burninator
Last night, I was watching In the Beginning on DVD and when it came to the battle of the line, I was thinking about how much I'd like to do that in a game. Then I thought that the game would actually have to be Babylon 5, all the right ships, none of these wierd designs that you see in Star Trek games, it has to have the Christopher Franke music playing, the proper zero-g space flight physics, basicly everything that ITF had, otherwise it just wouldn't feel right. If all we end up with is some cheap cash in, then we should stick with the mods, because they do feel like B5.

You'd like to do what in a game? Get shot out of the sky without even breaking formation? What fun would that be?

Sorry for the painful memories, but it is a valid point, how many of you would settle for a cheap cash in?

Other than that, if you want to fly a fury, it's IFH or the FS2 mod... I think B5:SFS has died

Hey somebody could do a mod for Starshatter. Realistic flight physics and a dynamic campaign. Plus you could fly Thunderbolts in the atmosphere. About the only thing missing would be hyperspace.

By the way, I just released a new version of Magic (the modeling tool I wrote to create models for Starshatter). You can now load Wavefront OBJ files into Magic and export them as MAG files ready to be used in game.

See the official website for details.

A mod for Starshatter would be cool, especially as the developer would be so close at hand.

Thats why I said we should stick with the mods, because as B5 fans we know what we want in a game.

The devs seem to have a pretty good idea what we want in a B5 game as well, and they were right on track to deliver it.

You know what? I would love for the demo to appear on the net so we could get to see the game.

It would be cool if it did and people played it and rejoiced and the heavens opened and the hand of god intervened for the betterment of mankind.

Hmm, think I need to go sit down now

    Ya think?

I'm trying to create official reference documentation for modders in the form of an SDK ( http://www.starshatter.com/modsdk.htm ).

Does this stuff look it would be useful?

Yeah, and they had everything pulled away from underneath them - the joy of going out and making it yourself is that you'll never, really, run that risk

ok, is this what i remember, you get a ship go around the galaxy and trade. you had a specific sector that was yours and it basically ripped off most space sci-fi out there. like youd make a planet with a geneis torpedo and get colonist off terra.

if thats not it then what is what i wrote because i LOVED playing that game. thanks.

I kicked ass the one time I played it. Had enough cash in the bank to live off the interest alone and had a nice little dead-end home planet defended like mad through the only entrance.

Stopped playing because the SysOp for the board hacked my stuff. Bastard.

I probably know the Sys Op (and NO, it wasn't me... ) ...

That used to be a major drawback to the game... although you probably didn't get to listen to all he flames and whining from the newbies to the game either that he did...

  • Now THAT is a blast from the past....That game has to be one of the first true multiplayer games ever. I remember playing it on a BBS in like 1989 or 1990.

    On my 1200 baud modem......LOL
