Even more important is the depiction of how the German home front was prepared for the war. Again, falsehood was the key, and regimentation of thinking and action were the objectives. The appeal to nationalism was prominent: Flags were everywhere, and the national leaders were always surrounded by military uniforms and displays of power. The slogan of the time was "One People, One Leader, One Nation." The obvious implication: If you deviated from that norm, you were a traitor.
I can see where *this* is going...

Well, you can hardly deny that for a year or two after the 9/11 terrorist attacks anyone who spoke out against what America was doing was immediatly deemed "unpatriotic," and that this was considered a Very Bad ThingTM.

Then again, they weren't sent for "re-education", or shipped off to certain "camps" along with a lot of other socio-political "undesirables".

while they weren't treated exactly like that, speaking out in the first year could trigger an unfortunate loss of credibility amongst one's peers if in a governmental job.
Add that to the whole "If you don't support us, the terrorists have won!" and you get a nasty environment where dissent is quietly pushed into a closet.

Cheers Biggles, I was a bit slow on the uptake.
Sanfam, I agree with what you're saying, I just think that comparing a certain regime to that of the Nazis', even in a small way, is a very risky thing to do.

Hey I only pushed one dissenter into a closet, and that was on a COMPLETLEY unrealted matter....
Please does somebody want to see what happened to the "dissenters" in England and the US durring world war II? they were thrown in jail, hell even those "concientious objectors" IE pacifists were often incarcerated.
Part of being a citizen of a nation is you have a responsiblity to your fellow citizens, if you abrogate those reposnsiblities in favor of a foreign power or entity, some measure of censure is appropriate.

E.T, you don't really *like* the United States, do you?

Neither would you if you would have lived in neighbour of one certain tyrantic dictatorship.
(where some "programmed machines" filled with years of official line are again moaning after certain "Father Sun" who quite propably caused biggest atrocities of world history, was professional in killing of people when Hitler just started work practise and was as quilty to WW2 as Hitler)
So you can bet I have knowledge about those, methods they use...
And ideology+methods of US of A's goverment (&money controlled big media) stinks that quite badly. All-knowing&wise communistic party has just been replaced with holy trinity of capital, corporations and money in this case.

If he were here today,
I'm sure he'd kick an ass or two,
That's what George W. Bush'd do.
