  • I would still say... that we are *not* mind-readers. Merely equipped with a crude debugging interface for performing near-adequate prediction of fellow human mindstates. In simplified but silly terms, interaction between our different modules might go so:

    Action planner: "We need to predict this individual's viewpoint. Somebody do it."

    Mirroring network: "Doing it. Sombody tell me what we know about this individual."

    Rest of knowledge-containing neural networks: "Here's the data. Now what?"

    Mirroring network: "Mind you if I perform a context swap? Just for a moment."

    :: mirroring network reflects data to input connections for the rest of brain ::

    Mirroring network: "Well, how did that feel?"

    Rest of brain: "Angry as hell, about to whack that dork with a live spoo."

    :: whack ::

    Mirroring network: "Hey, action planner!? Where are you? He's gonna whack us with the spoo. Do you copy?"

    :: whack whack whack ::

    Action planner: "I copy. The bastard has already whacked us with a spoo. I got overtaken by a self-preservation shortcut. It says: duck and run! I say: faster -- he's got multiple more spoos."

    I know
  • It was weird on Monday.

    The young woman who takes my seminars for Medieval History at University (a rather attractive and buxom individual), was talking, and I inadvertantly chimed-in and finished one of her sentences exactly how she did. Anyway, we laughed and exchanged embarrassed looks and I went bright red as a result. :o

    Um, no.

    I'm a romantic. Smooching would have been top of my list.
