Northeast US FirstOnes meet?

With the discussion going on of a UK FO meetup, I was wondering the American folks in here would think about a meet at some point in the summer in the Northeast/New England region? While I am in Rochester, NY right now, I will eventually be heading down to lower NY. I know there's a few guys floating around that region, however how many are actually reading this is up for debate... :D

    I don't have a car or license, and I'm not planning on getting one, especially because it's becoming increasingly likely that I will be going to college in Boston. Also, I'm almost five hours from Rochester. :p

    Would be cool, though.

    How's New York City sound as a decent central location? Any objections or other suggestions? I've got a car and the abilit to drive for a couple hundred miles (as long as it's to somewhere interesting)

    NYC is a 20 min drive to get into midtown for me. Weekends would be best since who wants to pay 17 per hour for parking. Hawaii would be nice, it is like 14-18 hour flight from here.

    I'm about as far out in the sticks as one can get and still find the occassional paved road, so I fully expect to be shot, mugged, raped an/or run over the instant I step off the bus/train. Still, sounds like fun. I'll even have a job this summer, so I might not have to pay for restaurant meals with buckets of quarters and dimes.

    Sean, know of any good places for a bunch of (probably underaged) geeks to meet in NYC?

    Easy to fix: Move back in! ;) As for places to go and things to do, I'm sure that we could come up with something worth a damn.

    For example, Blue Man Group is really good and well worth seeing in person.

    Not to mention the countless game expos that will probably be going on. I have never gone to one but was close to. I do have a friend out on 167th that has LANs from time to time. Last game we played was WOW. I enjoyed it for the most part but its way too time consuming!

    Along with that you should probably take a trip to the usual tourist traps...Empire State building which I haven't been to in at least 5 years, Take a trip to the USS Intrepid & hang around Chelsea(no not Clinton :) for a little bit. You might want to take a peak at the huge gaping hole that is 1 WTC. Its fenced off that cracks me up. Musuem of Natural Science n such. All that good stuff. OH and before I forget the infamous [URL=http://homepage.mac.com/robbtodd/.Pictures/8ZERO8/bum.jpg]Bum[/URL] that sits near Yankee stadium.

    As Sanfam said there is ALOT to do you'll never completely explore NYC in a few days.
