Comes The Inquisitor... I hope he doesn't have to serve for the next 400 years.

is this good or bad? not that i really care, but still......
• Apparently, he had Fascist sympathies during The War. No doubt Channel 4 news will be making light of this.

The new Pope, Joseph Ratzinger, Pope Benedict XVI

Interesting times...

:)

St. Malachy calls this one "The glory of the Olive Tree"

Fascinating that his first name is Joseph, who was the Glory of Israel, but perhaps this might refer to some coming peace treaty (Olive Branch), or successful dealings with Israel in some other avenue.

Here's an interesting link posted before the election of Ratzinger:

according to the bbc report i saw he was in the Hitler youth (but then most german kids then were), but he refused to join the nazi party

He is also quite conservative. Looks like humanism wont be coming into catholism for a while. But this guy is like 78. Not to sound cold blooded, but I don't think he will be around for more than a decade.

He was in Opis Day.

Hmm. Well I don't expect great changes in the Vatican to come out of this, however he is 78. 78! How long will he rein as Pope? We will see.
• TyvarTyvar Next best thing to a St. Bernard
I give him 4 to 6 years, then they will probably elect a pope out of africa/asia maybe south american region.

And the cardinals there tend to be ARCH conservatives, expect the european and american churches to whine alot.

He (croxis) has a course charted for what all of Catholocism ought to think, but God help us if we try to tell him what to think.

If St Malachy is right, there will be only one more, "Peter the Roman". He will likely be an Italian (Referenced to Milan). He may have had enough votes this time around but vetoed by pressure from others. It's quite possible that Pope Sidious I... er I mean Pope Benedict XVI :D will have a short reign (maybe even die to foul play).

I heard he already pissed off a few with a comment about fundamentalism in the Catholic Church and how he intends to cure the spread of liberlism in the RCC...

will be interesting to see what unfolds...

Rat-singer seems to be quite a 'non-event' Pope...

...to be honest he smacks of 'filler', while all the big cheeses sort out who the 'real' Pope should be. Lets face it, this guy has perhaps got 10 years of active service before he becomes 'use free'.

It would be nice to see a progressive Pope but lets face it... 'progressive Pope' is an oxymoron...

eh... Nuke the Vatican from Orbit, its the only way to be sure...

That very well may happen somewhere down the road if the claims about the Vatican being the Babylon (city on the seven hills) of Revelations and other prophecies are true.

I've always thought about and like the idea that the prophetic Babylon has (3) different entities.

Religious Babylon (RCC), Economic Babylon (USA), Political Babylon (Iran/Iraq or persia).

Who really knows, but it is interesting all the correlations that go on in all of this.

One thing I'm quite sure of, is that the 6th seal judgement of Revelations is an asteroid/comet strike. Big enough to effect the globe, small enough for us to survivie it though. The whole sequence is exactly what occurs when an impact occurs.

Perhaps this is aluded to by one of the biggest Earthquakes ever recorded being predicted too. They say that a 1 mile wide asteroid striking the Earth creates an Earthquake magnitude of around 12... Imagine the debri tossed up by that, the subsequent chain reaction of other fault slippage, tsunamis galore, fire storms raging across the planet, dust and silicates in the air, etc...

Not a pretty picture...

Sorry. Today is liberal-fundie-nuking-day. Conservative-fundie-nuking-day is next week. If the nuke they just launched at you somehow misses, who knows, maybe you'll get to see him bite it then.

Good luck!
• croxiscroxis I am the walrus
nuking is also bad for the environment. There are much more environmentlaly friendly ways of ideologicide

I loved the Palpatine/Benedict XVI comparisons. I expect things won't really change for Pope John-Paul II. What I can't believe that the cardinals elected someone who is 78 years old! How long will he live?

He also talked about unifying the Christian chuch. Nice goal but I think impraubable.

One more note. I see the earthquake as being a truely world shaking event. Without modern technology most of the planet would not have known the Earthquake even happened.

Besides we have to hold out 150 more years so the Centauri can stop by and introduce us to real fashion.
