The Next Dr Who
WORF
The Burninator
in Zocalo v2.0
After Christopher Eccleston quit Dr Who (he feared being typecast. Though I think he will be remembered for quitting) they had to find another actor to play the part.
They have decided: Link
I can't say I've seen him anything but he has been getting alot of attention from Casanova, so hopefully he will do a good job.

Can't argue with that...
and I agree that occasionally he seems that the role is not instinctive, a little forced at times
Still, so far I like the style (for the most part) and if sometimes it's not RSC quality acting well, the 1st season of one of our favourite shows sometimes falls into the same pit. I'm prepared to ignore that and enjoy the ride.
Things I don't like:some of the humour in the latest ep was a bit puerile; the cliffhanger ending was good but not great, it took too long to build up, was too forced.
Things I liked: The docter deciding to do one thing and then doing the complete opposite (as per spec), UNIT, longer story, clever humour.
I think Ecclestone is doing a good job..havent seen the other doctors though..
Haven't seen the other Drs?! Blimey where have you been??! Go and get them!! ;)
For me Ecclestone is ok but I think it was pretty silly of him signing up and then quitting. Surely he was for warned that this could be a hit and the prospects of another series maybe in the pipe line? It kind of put me off watching the rest of this series knowing he's not in the next. Not that I particularly like him. But with any characters you get to know them and their way of portraying.
They had a poll once and Anthony Head Stewart(Giles from Buffy) came no1 for the next Dr. Pity as I think he'd be great. I can also imagine Rik Mayall as I've seen him play serious type roles as well as his usual funny crazy roles.

I agree with that completely. This is Dr Who, not South Park.

I agree with that too. I think he would also make a good James Bond.

Now that's someone who'd make a great Dr Who.
agreed
As for C.E. quitting. the bbc issued an apology for getting it wrong.
He signed on for only 1 series at the start. he didn't quit.

I know, the flatulence was completely unessessary. I love South Park and Bottom where toilet humour could be funny, but I don't expect it in a self-styled sci-fi drama.
l agree whole-heartedly with the nomination of Anthony Steward-Head as the next doctor. He was fantastic Buffy, and it's great to see him as the PM in Little Britain, as MartianDust said. :D
Here are a few other Doctors I have in mind;
Sean Pertwee (Dog Soldiers)
Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers)
Simon Pegg (Spaced, Shaun of the Dead)

Not seen that but at least it would keep it a family tradition!

Not seen those either.
Wow, several things I haven't seen all in one post.
maybe I do have a life after all!
(self-delusion is a wonderful thing :D )
Anyone seen Rowen Atkinson's blackadder time travel story?
He'd actually make quite a good doctor I thought.
And to get you thinking why is Dr who always a male character? Why not ever female? Not that I think it would be better.

...true...
Although having a male Doctor might be like having a female Starfleet Captain. And we all know how that turned out... *Shudders*

So far I'm really enjoying the series, but this last episode felt like a bit of a cop out.
Spoiler: Alien Hoax? Sigh. I was hoping they would pull a Farscape and roll with it, but it feels like they're chickening out by pretending you could suppress something that huge. I mean, you still have a bloody great spaceship hogging the thames, for crying out loud! Not to mention that the entire government is gone, and the parlament buildings being smoking rubble.
But next week's looks really good - I never could figure out why these Dalek thingies were supposed to be fearsome, so I look forward to finding out. :D

You obviously didn't watch "Genesis of the Daleks" when you were a kid. They scared the living hell out of me.
