It was fun while it lasted...

My first real crash, at last. I accidentally flew it into a tree. The sound was impressive.

I wish I had the money to do that for fun. ;)

Going to have one when I have the money to use, and can afford a crash :)

ive never flown a RC heli before, only planes. but i have to say that the heli's are much more fun to watch when they crash:D if you pile one into the ground, they flop about for ages like fish out of water till they bleed off the momentum of the rotors.
• BigglesBiggles <font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
Well, that's the advantage of micro-electric. The rotor doesn't have that much momentum. :) This time didn't involve any flopping about anyway, just a crunch followed by a vertical fall out of the tree.

lol, i was toying with the idea of getting one of those for a while, but in the end decided the money would be better spent on my new graphics card. they do look to be great fun tho:D

Heh... looks like kites aren't the only thing that trees will eat.:)

Fun, yes, but you need to be willing to put a lot of time into learning to fly it and a lot of money into parts. :)
I'm considering getting back into fixed wing as well. With electrics the way they are now I can get a good park flyer and not have to drive half an hour just to fly it, like I had to with my petrol powered one.

Bet the pilot felt that one.

yeah fixed wings are fun, and definitly easier to fly than whirlybirds. next time i go home i may just get out one of my fixed wings (i still need to finish the biplane i bought in Timaru 5 years ago:rolleyes: )

Ooohh!! might have to get this just for the hell of it! looks quite good fun :D

I love fixed wing, I'll always prefer it over rotary. But it's hard to fly a decent fixed wing indoors on rainy evenings. :)

lol, true. a while ago on play.com they had some RC blimps that you filled with helium and could fly about indoors. but they took them off the site a little while ago for some reason, just as i was going to get one:(
• BigglesBiggles <font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
You can still get those from most hobby shops, and thinkgeek.com also sells them. Or, you could do what sleepy_shadow seems to do and build your own. :)

sweet! pity its £70, and £15 for postage. gotta go over to the model shop tomorrow anyway now that ive got my modelling tools again (tho they sell bbguns there, so im just as likely to come out with one of them;))

Biggles: found a link to the biplane that I got and have yet to finish building. Well, its not quite the same one, cos that one is a ARTF and mine is a home build. I'll have to ask my Dad what the name of the foam plane is tho

LMAO! those are brilliant!:D
• BigglesBiggles <font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
That's a damn nice biplane model.
• Sorry to hear about the crash. Hope it can be easily repaired.

My favourite model so far... is my motorized Robbe Silence. When assembled with suitable modifications, it appears a *very* reliable model (reliable enough for me to entrust Nikon Coolpix 3700 into its care).

Unfortunately I don't have the image gallery wired up yet... but here's a picture of me testing it before launch during last Autumn. Here, on the other hand, is an aerial video (some 35 MB) from last spring.

Of helicopters, my favourites until now are Robbe Eolo R-22 (will probably be overtaken by Spirit Li in the summer) and Hirobo XRB Lama (counter-rotating, very nice indoor flyer, but currently in repair due to suffering a destructive bout of radio interference).

My long-term dream is building something which looks like a Culture drone... and unless you search for a difference, can leave a second's impression that it really might be one. :D
