  ...are they having hallucinations, or did the journalist skip half of their sentence? There exist plenty of robotic aircraft (both tiny models and fairly big drones) which can easily exceed this velocity by tens, if not hundreds of times.

  The journalist just got it slightly wrong. Hitachi have said it's the fastest humanoid robot. Personally I think that their marketing department is putting a little spin on that since it's not technically a humanoid in its motion, and it's not presented in research papers as using humanoid motion.
