    Well, I'd expect sometime.

Google is placing them as an information management company. What they still need is:
    - Data storage file system
    - Their own browser of that file system
    - Their own (publically sold) database system
    - Their own creation operating system that manages the file system, browser, and database system.

we know they have a database - thats what google uses internally. We know they are working on creating something with the Firefox code - we don't know what. What they are missing is a full blown operating system and a file system. I would expect to see both of these show up in the next couple of years.

It doesn't sound like it may be long before large business applications are using google databases rather than SQL or Oracle, the biggest advantage would be the built-in ability to search and retreive data. Both Oracle and SQL require third-party softwares such as Crystal or Business Objects, both of which are rather time consumiung for the average business analyst to learn.

Actually SQL is not a database, it's a language to handle databases.

And no, the world does not need yet another DB system to be developed IMHO. There are many already which work perfectly.

Me too. I find the whole idea as a really bad joke to be honest.
