What do normal people talk about?

Because seriously I give up...

I really don't know what the hell to talk about with your average female?

I certaintly can't her interested in AMD 64 bit processing. :whip:

  • SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
Trust me on this one: Don't talk about cars. It usually doesn't work out well ;)

They seem to love the idea of a PhD until you mention that it's on robotics and you're basically a computer geek who's avoiding growing up.

Man... I love robotics... Mech's... the sorts.

Tho, I did compare boobs with one other cashier once.. Only through sms tho. :(

This brings back memories of a conversation with a friend where we came up with the idea that girls like guys with mechs. It was inspired by an old real life comic story arc.

I'll post a link when they get their archive back up.

    Worf
  • *Anyone* who holds a longer conversation with me... will inevitably hear numerous pointless ramblings about:

-- Disturbing the fish, how devious they are... and how to get quality photos of them.

-- Building and flying model aircraft, latest innovations in their technology, my personal successes and failures in flying them.

-- Aerophotos (and spectacular failures related to taking them).

-- Next year's problem in some robotics competition, and how my contraption attempts to solve it.

Such talk can *only* be avoided by taking initiative, and talking instead of me. :)
  • I would say make them laugh and show what a nice person you are. Of course 2 studies below. I don't understand because I have talked to women that like masculine features. I think it is laws of average. The more women hit on the more change of getting a yes.

Yes I have a college study. They say just to take risks of course I guess that means doing things you would not normally do.

    Build a Mech.

I have no idea either. My first fiancee was a gamer, and I met my wife at a Star Trek convention.

They're out there, guys, just gotta look hard enough.
  • Speaking of AMD 64X I've read a few articles. It seems it is faster but you won't be using the full potential of the processor if its in 32 bit mode. IT looks like they are projecting at least another few years till a full switch takes course. Windows XP 64 is going to be released at some point this year but again not all software is ported to 64 bit some aren't even planning on it. So that has just turned me off from upgrading to a 64 this year.

I can't feel my legs... Keyser...

note to self: thou shalt not drink heavy alcohocilical beverages (without a proper bunch of alcoholica l beverages to soften the bunch)

Cabl3 Guy: you could always run linux on it. Plenty of 64-bit linux around. :)

and more specifically, I try and get HER to pick the topic. :D
  • Its very rare that I get to shift a topic over to sex.

But I did mention that I gave up masturbation for lent. :D

Just talk about stuff damnit, you know, local happenings, music, movies, other friends, TV, places and trips

Dont mention computers, guns or sex, unless they bring up any of the above first.

Of course, I dont know much about the actual courting process, but like half the freakin girls in my city look at me as a brother figure, and Im friends with more girls then guys

Im just cursed, I know it, its some kind of ancient gypsy curse!

    Their loss...

Say Biggles... In regards to your robotics studies, do you guys monkey around with walkers at all, or just rollers?

You should build a Bot for walking on volcanoes... ;)
  • ShadowDancerShadowDancer When I say, "Why aye, gadgie," in my heart I say, "Och aye, laddie." London, UK
yeah that would be cool! must have a sample arm!

we're just doing igneous petrology in our mineralology and petrology class at the moment. its really quite interesting

Yes, but I have just as much potential for being paid relatively little.

We do most of our work with wheeled robots. The stuff we develop is equally applicable to legged robots, though, since it's mainly only the motion control that differs.

Unfortunately, that isn't the focus of our research group. :)

dude... as sort of mentioned sideways... your best bet is to talk about her and her interests with her... which is a double win for you. She parts with precious information about her, if she likes 'whips and chains' etc and she feels appreciated/the centre of your attention...:)
