WinAmp vs iTunes

croxiscroxis I am the walrus
Which one is better?

(side note: does iTunes have a means/plugin which music can be slowed down to learn on guitar?)

While I haven't used iTunes, my impression of it is that it's better suited to people with lots of more categorisable music. I think winamp is better for people who just want to play music from a bunch of rather random tracks all the time rather than specifically play a certain album/artist at a certain time.

I'd agree with Biggles, were it not for Foobar2000's continued existence. However, given that this is a thread about Winamp and iTunes, I'll say...Winamp.
  • Winamp...

if you take the time, winamp can also catorgorize by author, album, etc.

    it has internet radio

    it looks REALLY nice

Prefers using Winamp...I got all my music sorted with one folder for each album, so I am just using windows explorer to browse and select music to play, prefer it this way :)
  • I've been using Winamp for 6 years. No other (audio) player has taken it's place as number one, yet.

I used winamp on my PC until ITunes came out, and then i started using that.

I was the same way using explorer to click through my music. But i prefer Itunes way of organizing for you and that every time it opens it has all of your music there and you can just click on whatever.

It also has great random modes, and are very easy to use.

Overall i find it for more simple to use then winamp for all of the extra features i have come to love, displaying the cover art, random play, playlists, party shuffle and burning.
  • I prefer Winamp, but I've been using it for several years now, and haven't really given iTunes much of a chance.

Winamp I think i will go to then. The only advantage i see of iTunes is being able to access other computer libraries over a network, which i dont have.
  • can't say which one is better as i use both regularly (daily)

itunes is for sorting, editing and for handling my ipod and also for playing larger selection of songs (playlists or shuffle by artists)

winamp is used if i want specific music and just drag a song after the other in there (it's set as default player for mp3 songs so it doesn'T load the bit more ram intensive itunes if i just want single songs)

if it comes to how much i use them, itunes wins
